This smart plug adds Z-Wave On/Off control and energy monitoring to any device plugged into it, which gives you more convenient control over your chosen device. Using the Shelly Smart Control app, you can turn on or off the Shelly Wave Plug US and its controlled device on demand or according to a preset schedule or automated routine. If the Shelly Wave Plug US is plugged into an outlet controlled by a local switch, the switch can also turn it On and Off. This smart wall plug can handle power usage of up to 1800W @ 15A to allow you to include your TV, lampstand, portable fan, space heater or single room AC units into your Z-Wave compatible smart home network. Additionally, the Shelly Wave Plug US contains surge protection and overheating safety features to keep your plugged in devices from damage caused by excess heating, voltage, current, and power output.

Installation Details

The Wave Plug US can be inserted into any standard US power outlet and allows for control over a single device. A power strip or extension cord should not be plugged into the Wave Plug. Once a device has been plugged in,the Wave Plug US can report its real time device status, as well as record and measure their energy consumption over time.

The Wave Plug US will automatically attempt to locate and request inclusion into your local Z-Wave network after it is installed. In order to utilize Z-Wave LR communications, a Z-Wave LR compatible gateway or hub is required. Unlike standard Z-Wave mesh protocols, Z-Wave LR works as a star network, connecting a Z-Wave gateway directly to a Z-Wave LR device up to 1 mile (1.6km) away without using any other Z-Wave devices as a signal relay or node.

Z-Wave Plus v3 Certification

Z-Wave Plus v3 is an upgraded Z-Wave certification program to help you identify products that take advantage of the latest Z-Wave hardware platform, also known as 800 Series or Gen8 Z-Wave. Z-Wave Plus v3 compatible devices include extended wireless relay range up to 130 feet (40m) to the nearest Z-Wave device, three layers of encryption, faster operation, and longer battery life.

Z-Wave LR Certification

Z-Wave LR extends Z-Wave connectivity beyond the boundaries of a single building with increased range and coverage and optimized battery life. Z-Wave networks can support both Z-Wave LR and traditional Z-Wave nodes can co-exist within the same network, enabling a wide variety and combination of Z-Wave devices and Z-Wave LR devices.
