Imagine being able to vacuum your entire home without having to carry around a heavy and bulky vacuum unit. Let’s face it, cleaning your home can be an annoying chore as it is and having to deal with a standard, mobile vacuum unit doesn’t make it easier since they can be really loud all while leaving dirt and debris behind due to their weak motors. Then there’s the hassle of dealing with tangled cords that never seem to be long enough to cover the entire room.

Well, you’re in luck because today you’ll find out how adding a central vacuum system to your home can make vacuuming a whole lot easier and at the same time possibly increase the resale value of your home.

What is a Central Vacuum System?

A central vacuum system consists of a central power unit (motor) that is hidden from view and typically placed in a garage, basement, or an area that’s out of the way. It connects to inlet valves located on walls in various locations of a home or building through a network of tubes and fittings that are hidden behind walls. To vacuum, a lightweight hose is used by connecting one end of the hose to an inlet valve while connecting the other end to a vacuum tool or brush. When vacuuming, the debris and dirt travel through the hose and tubes until deposited into the container attached to the central power unit, and the air that was sucked in is then exhausted outside of the home.

Reasons to Add a Central Vacuum System To Your Home

1.) More Power for Deep Cleaning:Central vacuum motors are more powerful than mobile, upright/canister systems and will be able to suck up more dirt, debris, and grit that are deeply embedded in carpet. Since central vacuum motors are typically placed in garages and basements they will tend to run cooler, allowing you to vacuum for longer periods of time.

2.) Better Filtration: Central vacuum systems are highly recommended for those who suffer from allergies. Unlike portable, upright vacuum systems that recycle vacuumed allergens back in the air through the exhaust, central vacuum systems exhaust dirt, dust, and debris outside of the home, providing cleaner air and reduced allergens.

3.) Quieter Experience: The central power unit is the main source of the noise and since it’s typically placed in a garage, basement, or out-of-the way utility area, vacuuming will be a lot quieter around the house. Family members will no longer need to escape to other rooms and you won’t have to worry about waking up family members if you decide to vacuum in the mornings.

4.) Easy to Use: You can say goodbye to the bulky, heavy mobile vacuum systems and their messy, tangled cords because the only thing you’ll need when using a central vacuum system is a lightweight hose with a vacuum tool or vacuum brush attached to it. There are a variety of vacuum tools and brushes to choose from that will work on carpets, hard floors, hard-to-reach spots, and for pet hair removal.

5.) A Great Investment: Installing a central vacuum system in your home is a smart investment because it will save money over time and add value to your property. You’ll get back the money you put in for installation after the house is sold; and unlike portable vacuums that break down and need to be replaced every few years, central vacuum systems last a lot longer - up to 10 years before a major accessory needs to be replaced.
