FIBARO Z-Wave Swipe
Touchless Control for Z-Wave Systems
Have you seen those movies where government agents (like Tom Cruise in Minority Report) can control a computer screen just by waving their hands? Or maybe you're familiar with the gesture-controlled Kinect for XBox? Well now you can bring that futuristic type of hand-wave control to your FIBARO Z-Wave system with the FIBARO Z-Wave Swipe (U.S.). Designed for use with a FIBARO Z-Wave hub (sold separately), such as the Home Center 2, this incredible "gesture sensing" Fibaro Swipe Z-Wave control panel detects and distinguishes between a variety of different hand motions, allowing you to turn on lights, disarm your security system and more, as quickly as you walk by the Swipe — no need to stop and touch the screen!
- Responds to single or combination (sequence) hand gestures
- No need to touch the screen; just wave your hand
- Detects only intentional gestures, ignores everyday body movements
- Variety of possible gestures allows up to 12 different controls
- Beeping and LED confirm gesture detection, Swipe power on, etc.
Custom Control with a Range of Gestures
Swipe supports six singular gestures (up, down, left, right, clockwise, counter-clockwise) and up to six combinations of gestures, called sequences, offering a total of 12 different controls. Sequences can be made of two or three gestures. Every sequence must be unique and cannot contain circular gestures. Additionally, two identical gestures may not be used next to each other.
While simple left/right and up/down gestures are perfect for On/Off control, the Fibaro Swipe Z-Wave control panel is also capable of offering "slide" controls through circular gestures. You could dim the lights or adjust the blinds, for example, by circling your hand until the desired brightness level or blind height is reached. Circular gestures can also trigger scenes.
Furthermore, sequence gestures are great for applications that require greater security. Although the Fibaro Swipe Z-Wave control panel shouldn't be used to keep intruders from accessing your home, a three-gesture sequence would be suitable for quickly arming your security system before you leave home. It's simple enough to be convenient, yet unique enough that a house guest likely wouldn't accidentally trigger the sequence while playing with your cool Z-Wave toy. (Please note, sequences can only control scenes, not individual devices without inclusion in a scene.)
Gestures are programmed into your FIBARO hub like other typical triggered Z-Wave actions. In your hub's interface, the gestures will be listed as possible triggers that you can associate with specific events/actions. To create sequences, simply add two or three gestures together as a combo trigger for one event/action.
Powerful, Accurate Gesture Detection
The Fibaro Swipe Z-Wave control panel is intelligent enough that it only responds to specific, intentional hand gestures. Random hand movements and everyday body movements are ignored.
What's more, the Fibaro Swipe Z-Wave control panel's sensor is so sensitive that you can optionally hide the Fibaro Swipe Z-Wave control panel behind various materials without hindering operation. Place it underneath a granite countertop up to 1 inch thick, or behind drywall, or behind artwork to create a hidden controller. You could alternatively place a photograph onto the front of the screen to make it appear as a picture frame. The Fibaro Swipe Z-Wave control panel also works behind paint, plaster, wood, glass and more.
Z-Wave Plus Certification
Z-Wave Plus is an upgraded certification program to help you identify products that take advantage of the "Next Gen" Z-Wave hardware platform, also known as 500 Series or Gen5 Z-Wave. Z-Wave Plus certified solutions feature a selected set of extended features and capabilities that enhance your experience with faster and easier installation and setup. Z-Wave Plus advancements also provide longer battery life, faster operation, better wireless range and improved noise immunity.
Power & Installation Details
The Fibaro Swipe Z-Wave control panel can be powered by either four AA batteries (included) or a USB power supply (cable included, adapter not included) with the option to use batteries as backup.
When battery-powered, the Swipe will enter Standby Mode by default (signalled with a low-pitch beep) after 5 seconds of inactivity to reduce battery usage. In this Standby Mode, range and frequency of detection are reduced, preventing normal gesture detection. To exit Standby Mode, move your hand close to the center of the pad and wait for the high-pitch beep, then move your hand away from the pad.
The Swipe comes with a table stand (Holder) to hold the Swipe upright on a tabletop for easy access and portability throughout home. You also have the option of mounting the Swipe to a flat surface (hardware not included).
