The Elk 2-Way Wireless Transceiver For Multi-Transceiver Installations (ELK-M1XRFTWM) has been optimized and designed for multiple transceiver installations to provide coverage for large areas. It provides reliable, superior signal reception, allowing an Elk M1 or M1EZ8 Controller to accept Elk's complete line of two-way wireless sensors. The device connects to your controller's keypad data bus and may be remotely located up to several thousand feet away from the controller.

The letter "M" in the M1XRFTWM receiver part number stands for "multiple receiver capable". The original Elk two-way receiver (M1XRFTW, sold separately) was occasionally installed in multiples on a single installation. The intention and benefit of multiple receivers was for added coverage in super large buildings. However, it was discovered that if the multiple receivers were not spaced far enough apart, then their overlapping coverage area could cause processor memory overflow if the multiple receivers too often heard the same transmission from one or more sensors. This could then lead to false supervisory troubles or other issues. (Not all installations experienced this and some continue to work fine with no issues. It can largely depend on the installation or environmental conditions.)
The revamped M1XRFTWM receiver is especially designed to filter out duplicate transmissions and recover from memory issues should they ever occur.
