Overview

The VS-ZP3102+ is a wireless PIR motion sensor built on Vision's home security platform. It is a Z-Wave enabled device using interoperable, two-way RF mesh networking technology, and is fully compatible with any Z-Wave enabled network. Every mains-powered Z-Wave device acts as a signal repeater, so more devices on the network create more possible transmission routes and help eliminate RF dead spots. This sensor monitors movement and sends a Z-Wave signal when movement is detected inside the building.

Installation

Note: If installing an entire Z-Wave system for the first time, refer to the installation guide for your Z-Wave Interface Controller before installing the VS-ZP3102+.

1. Release the cover tab to open the cover.
2. Insert a CR123A battery into the battery compartment. The LED will start flashing slowly, indicating the sensor has not yet been included ("inclusion") on a network.
3. Close the cover back onto the sensor.
4. For inclusion (adding to a network): Put the Z-Wave Interface Controller into "inclusion" mode and follow its instructions to add the VS-ZP3102+. Keep the sensor within about one meter of the controller during inclusion. Press the program switch on the sensor once — the LED should stop flashing (retry if it doesn't).
5. For exclusion (removing from a network): Put the Z-Wave Interface Controller into "exclusion" mode and follow its instructions. Press the program switch once to be excluded — the LED will start flashing again.
6. For association: Remove the cover to enter "Awake" mode, then put the Z-Wave Interface Controller into "association" mode and follow its instructions to associate the sensor with another device. Close the cover after association completes; the sensor will then return to "Sleep" mode for power saving. Supports one association group (up to 5 nodes).
7. Use the included adhesive tape to mount the sensor about 2 meters above the surface, angled to cover the room widely for best detection performance.

"Awake" mode is entered by removing the cover — this lets the Z-Wave controller perform association while the sensor is out of Sleep mode.

Operation

1. When someone walks in front of the sensor, it sends "ON" status (Basic Set, Value 0xFF) to any associated nodes, and the LED flashes once.
2. If no further movement is detected within three minutes, the sensor sends "OFF" status (Basic Set, Value 0x00) to associated nodes.
3. During normal operation, the LED does not light.
4. The sensor has a built-in tamper switch. If the cover is removed, it sends an alarm report (type 01, level 11) to the Z-Wave Interface Controller, and the LED goes solid. The sensor is in "Awake" mode until the cover is replaced.
