    Quick installation guide and technical reference for the Zipato Mini Keypad RFiD/Z-Wave — a battery-powered Z-Wave access control keypad that arms/disarms a security system using manual codes or RFID tags.

    Overview

    The Mini Keypad RFiD/Z-Wave is a Z-Wave access control device combining a numeric keypad with an RFID reader. It can arm/disarm a security system, read RFiD/Z-Wave tags, and accept manually-entered codes. As a battery-powered device, it operates as a Z-Wave "routing slave" and stays in sleep mode most of the time, waking periodically or on user interaction to communicate with the network.

    Basic Operation

    • Press Home or Away, then enter a 1–4 digit manual code within 1 second, followed by Enter, to lock/unlock via code.
    • Alternatively, wait 1 second after pressing Home/Away and the RFID reader activates — present a compatible tag to lock/unlock.
    • The indicator LED reacts differently depending on the action being performed (see Indication Modes below).
    • A built-in buzzer can serve as a walk-in/walk-out notification when the alarm is being disabled or activated.

    Mounting

    1. Use a flat screwdriver at the side inlets to gently unlock and remove the back cover.
    2. Use the designated holes on the back cover to screw-mount the unit to the wall.
    3. Insert two AA 1.5V batteries (do not use rechargeable batteries).
    4. Mount the keypad onto the back cover, making sure it's closed on all sides and the tamper pin passes through the back cover correctly.
    5. After about 1 second, the startup routine begins (indicator: Ready for learn mode).
    6. After about 4 seconds total, mounting is complete (indicator: Mounting successful).
    7. The keypad is now ready to use.

    Including or Excluding from a Z-Wave Network

    1. Put your Z-Wave controller into the appropriate mode (include or exclude).
    2. Press and hold the tamper switch for 1 second, then release, to start the inclusion/exclusion process (indicator: Ready for learn mode).
    3. If normal inclusion is unsuccessful, the device will automatically start Network-Wide Inclusion (NWI).

    User Codes & Tags

    User codes and RFID tags are managed through the Z-Wave User Code and Alarm command classes, typically configured via a static controller or gateway. If an unknown manual code or unrecognized tag is presented, the keypad sends an unsolicited report so the controller can register a new code. Codes must be 4 to 10 ASCII digits.     Sound Notifications

    The keypad can play a notification sound to indicate that an alarm system is being armed or disarmed. Three configurations are supported: notification sound disabled, notification sound enabled (default), or notification sound with acknowledgement enabled — useful when users should only be able to disarm the alarm at certain times.
