Complete installation instructions for the Yale YH Collection Mechanical Interconnected Lockset, covering door prep, handing, deadbolt variants, and cylinder removal.
Installation instructions for the Yale YH Collection™ Mechanical Interconnected Lockset — covers door preparation, handing configuration, deadbolt installation (standard, optional, and occupancy variants), lock chassis installation, and cylinder removal for retrofits.
Retrofitting or modifying this product may impact fire rating, safety features, and warranty. Consult code specifications to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and ratings.
Using the provided template, mark and drill the door bore holes: a 2-1/8" diameter hole for the lock body, and a 1" diameter hole for the latch/deadbolt bolt, at either the 4" or 5.5" adjustable spacing (matching the product ordered). Drill holes halfway through the door, then complete from the other side, to prevent splitting.
Mount the strike plates to the door frame using the provided 7-16 / 8-32 × 1" UNCWS screws (4 total). The frame requires a 1" diameter × 1" deep hole for the deadbolt and a 1" diameter × 1/2" deep hole for the latchbolt.
Hand is determined from the secure side of the door (the side from which you initially unlock and enter):
The lockset can be converted between handing configurations (e.g. 5.5" Left Hand to 5.5" Right Hand) using the 4-24 × 1/4" PPHMS screws (2) and the 6-32 × 1/4" POHMS screw (1, does not come out of the plate). Available lockset handing configurations: 4" Left Hand, 4" Right Hand, 5.5" Left Hand, 5.5" Right Hand.
Uses a 6-32 × 1/4" POHMS screw (does not come out of the plate). The 5.5" or 4" thumbturn location is based on the distance between the holes bored in the door (see Step 1 and the template). Turn the thumbturn to ensure the plate tab fits into the hole on the escutcheon.
Both Fire Cups and a UL-marked latchbolt must be used to qualify for UL listing. Install the fire cups on the inside of the door per the diagram positions.
The deadbolt latch can be adjusted between a default 2-3/8" (60mm) backset and an optional 2-3/4" (70mm) backset by rotating the latch 180°.
Secure with 7-16 / 8-32 × 1" UNCWS screws (4). The bolt must be in the proper position before installing — refer to Step 8 for the applicable deadbolt type. Add the sleeve to the latch to accommodate the 1" (25mm) diameter door prep.
For YR852 & YR872 functions with KW, Schlage® C, or Yale Para keyways. Uses M6×55 PPHMS screws (2). Retract the bolt before installing — the bolt must be in the retracted (unlocked) position.
For YR852 & YR872 functions with Yale Commercial & Arrow keyways or SFIC. Uses 1/4-20 × 2-3/8" PPHMS screws (2). Extend the bolt before installing — the bolt must be in the extended (locked) position.
For the YR853 function. Uses 1/4-20 × 1-3/4" LHSCS screws (2). Extend the bolt before installing — the bolt must be in the extended (locked) position.
Secure with 10-32 × 1-1/2" PPHMS screws (2) on the inside of the door. The bolt must be in the proper position — refer to Step 8 for the deadbolt type used.
Use M4 × 14mm PFHMS self-tapping screws (2). Drill two 1/8" pilot holes for the screws before installing. Two M4 × 14mm self-tapping screws must be used to qualify for UL listing. Confirm the bolt is in the proper position per Step 8.
After this step, test deadbolt and latchbolt operation from the outside of the door before proceeding.
Secure with 10-32 × 5/8" POHMS screws (2). Escutcheon orientation must match the exterior side. Turn the thumbturn to adjust slot orientation before installing.
Attach the interior lever to complete the assembly.
Test the latchbolt operation from both the inside and outside of the door. Test the deadbolt operation from the outside of the door. Once both function properly, installation is complete.
