Installation and programming instructions for the Yale Real Living Assure Lock Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD246/YRD446).
Installation and programming instructions for the Yale Real Living Assure Lock® Key Free Touchscreen Deadbolt (YRD246/YRD446) — a keyless touchscreen electronic deadbolt with optional network module support for up to 250 user codes.
A Master PIN Code must be created before any further programming. Max user codes = 250 with the Network Module installed; YRD246 max = 25 without network module; YRD446 max = 12 without network module.
Must be performed upon installation or after resetting the lock to factory default. Programming and use of the lock is not possible until this step is completed.
Master PIN code must be created first.
Enter PIN code and press the gear/check key.
Resetting deletes all user codes (including the Master PIN code) and restores all programming to factory defaults.
After a reset, Master PIN Code creation is the only available option and must be completed before any other programming.

|---|---|
| Lock does not respond — door open/accessible | Use a larger area of the hand/fingers to activate; verify contact with at least 3 areas. Check that visible touchscreen numbers respond when pressed. |
| Lock does not respond — door locked/inaccessible | Check battery installation, orientation, and condition; replace if discharged. Check the touchscreen harness is fully connected and not pinched. Apply a 9V battery to the backup terminals if fully discharged. |
| Unit chimes for code acceptance but door won't open | Check door gaps for foreign objects; check the wire harness is firmly connected to the PCB. |
| Unit unlocks but won't auto re-lock | Check if Auto Re-lock Mode is enabled/disabled as desired; check low battery indicator and replace batteries if lit. |
| PIN codes will not register | PIN codes must be 4-8 digits and unique per user. Registration is managed by the Master Code — contact the Master user. |
| "Invalid code" error or times out | Enter the code within 5 seconds while the touchscreen is active. The check/gear icon cannot be part of the PIN. Check if Lockout Mode is enabled (Master only can disable). |
| Unit makes no sound | Check if Silent Mode is enabled (Volume Setting). |
| Unit responds "Low Battery" | Replace all four (4) AA alkaline batteries. |
| "Wrong number of digits" response | Digits entered were incorrect/incomplete — re-enter the correct code followed by the check key. |
Note to installer and consumer: While Yale includes several features to prevent lockout (9V battery jumper, low battery warnings), a lockout situation is still possible. Because this product has no mechanical override (key), Yale recommends using it in an environment with additional entry points into the dwelling.
