    Overview

    The Yale Assure Lock Push Button Deadbolt is a keypad deadbolt with an optional Network Module (Z-Wave Plus or ZigBee) for smart-home integration. A Master PIN Code must be created before any other programming. Maximum User Codes: 250 with a Network Module installed, or 25 without one. Yale recommends downloading the free BILT app for step-by-step visual installation instructions and product registration.

    Installation Steps (Summary)

    1. Prepare the door and install the latch & strike plate (2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset; bolt must be in the retracted/unlocked position).
    2. Install the keypad escutcheon on the outside of the door.
    3. Install the interior mounting plate.
    4. Attach the cable assembly connecting interior and exterior components.
    5. Install the interior escutcheon.
    6. Test operation before finishing (bolt in retracted position).
    7. Install the optional Network Module, if using one.
    8. Install batteries and replace the battery cover.

    Creating a Master PIN Code

    The Master PIN Code (4-8 digits) must be created before any other programming can occur. It is used both for programming/feature settings and for normal lock/unlock operation.

    Creating User PIN Codes

    The Master PIN code must be created first. Enter the Master PIN code, then follow the prompts to add a new 4-8 digit User PIN code. The same PIN code cannot be used for multiple users. Maximum: 250 users with a Network Module, 25 without.

    Key Definitions

    • All Code Lockout Mode: Restricts all user (except Master) PIN access. Keypad flashes 8 times, lock beeps 3 times on attempted entry while active.
    • Automatic Re-lock Time: Re-locks automatically 30 seconds after a successful unlock (if enabled).
    • Low Battery: Status Indicator flashes RED. Use the key override if battery power is completely lost.
    • Privacy Mode: Press the privacy button for 4 seconds to disable all PIN codes (do-not-disturb mode). Disabled by default.
    • Shutdown Time: After 5 failed PIN attempts, the unit shuts down (flashing keypad) for 60 seconds.
    • Tamper Alert: Audible alarm if someone attempts to forcibly remove the outside lock from the door.

    Resetting to Factory Default

    1. Remove the battery cover and batteries.
    2. Remove the interior escutcheon to access the reset button (beside the PCB cable connector).
    3. Press and hold the reset button (minimum 3 seconds) while reinstalling batteries, then release.
    4. Replace battery cover.

    Resetting deletes all user codes (including the Master PIN) and restores factory defaults. Master PIN Code creation becomes the only available option until it's set up again.

    Programming Troubleshooting

    Symptom Suggested Action
    Lock doesn't respond, door open/accessible Check keypad button response, battery installation/polarity/condition, and cable connection.
    Lock doesn't respond, door locked/inaccessible Batteries may be discharged — use the key to gain entry and replace batteries.
    Chimes but door won't open Check for another locking device, foreign objects in the door gap, and cable connection to the PC board.
    Won't auto re-lock Check if Auto Re-lock is enabled; check for low battery and replace if needed.
    PIN codes won't register Codes must be 4-8 digits, unique per user, and entered within 5 seconds. Contact the Master user for registration authority.
    Beeps/flashes red & blue 7 times, won't unlock All Code Lockout Mode is enabled — only the Master can disable it.
    No sound on operation Audio Mode is disabled — enable it via the Master programming menu.
    Intermittent RED flashes Low battery — replace all four AA batteries with new Alkaline batteries.

    Hardware Troubleshooting

    • Bolt will not deadlock: Check bolt clearance in the strike-side jamb (may need to deepen the pocket); check bolt/strike alignment.
    • Bolt doesn't extend/retract smoothly: Check alignment, backset, door prep hole sizing, keypad wire harness routing under the bolt, and bolt orientation.
    • Keypad numerics scrolling: Remove the interior escutcheon and verify the wire harness lies flat and is routed/tucked under the cable guide.

    Replacing the Cylinder

    Remove the outside escutcheon, rubber gasket, and the two screws holding the plastic guide; remove the plastic guide, then the screw/washer holding the cylinder, then pull the cylinder housing off the tailpiece. Reverse the steps to install a new cylinder, ensuring correct tailpiece length: L = 3-1/2" (88.8mm) for 1-3/8"-2" thick doors (requires a Thin Door Kit for the thinner end), or L = 3-3/4" (95.3mm) for 2"-2-1/4" thick doors. Tailpiece thickness T = .098" (2.5mm), width W = .2" (5.2mm).

    Network Module (Z-Wave Plus / ZigBee)

    Important: batteries must be removed before inserting or removing the network module.

    Z-Wave Plus: Security-enabled, uses encrypted messages, requires a Security Enabled Z-Wave Controller for full functionality. To enroll: enter the Master PIN code, then the enrollment key sequence shown on the lock. To unenroll: enter the Master PIN code, then the exclusion key sequence. Z-Wave Plus association/parameter info for system integrators is available at YaleHome.com/ZwavePlus.

    ZigBee: Also security-enabled and requires a Security Enabled ZigBee Controller. Enrollment/unenrollment follows the same Master-PIN-code-driven key sequence pattern as the Z-Wave module.

    Yale Assure App (Bluetooth Models)

    1. Download the Yale Assure app from the App Store or Google Play.
    2. Turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone and open the app (allow location/notification access for best experience).
    3. Create or sign into your Yale account, then tap "Add Lock" and follow on-screen instructions — don't walk away from the lock or close the app during pairing.
    4. Use the lock icon to customize lock name, settings (wrong code limits, one-touch locking, operating mode), and view access history.
    5. Share digital keys with friends/family (permanent or scheduled) via "Manage Users" — remove access anytime.
    6. Twist & Go: optional added-security unlock mode requiring a 90° left-then-right smartphone rotation before confirming unlock on the keypad.
