X10 XPT Transmitter Base — Installation Manual

Installation instructions for the X10 XPT Transmitter Base — a wall-box-mounted X10 wireless keypad base (transmitter only, does not switch loads) that accepts a variety of plug-on X10 keypad covers for customized room/scene control.

Overview

The XPT Transmitter Base mounts in a standard single-gang wall box and accepts an interchangeable Keypad cover, letting each installation be customized to the number of buttons and functions needed. The XPT itself does not switch any loads — it only transmits X10 commands to receiver modules elsewhere in the house.

Installing the XPT Transmitter Base

1. In a standard single-gang wall box, connect the Black wire from the XPT Base to 120V AC Live, and the White wire to Neutral, using the included wire nuts.
2. Make sure no bare wire strands ("whiskers") are exposed; use insulation tape to cover if necessary.
3. Secure the transmitter to the wall box.
4. Set the House and Unit Code dials to the desired settings: the red House Code dial should match the receiver modules you want to control; the black Unit Code dial should be set to the first of four sequential commands.

Note: If controlling only one device (as with an XP1 Keypad), the Unit Code you set is the unit number transmitted. If using an XP4 Keypad, the first command uses the unit number the XPT is set to, and the next three commands use the sequentially following unit numbers.

Note: The XPT automatically monitors the power line for noise and other signal transmissions and will not transmit until the line is clear.

Attaching the Keypad Cover

Place the desired Keypad cover onto the XPT Base by inserting the tab on top of the Keypad under the notch on the XPT Base. Gently press the bottom of the Keypad into place so the pins on the back of the Keypad insert into the XPT Base socket.

• Mini Controller MC10A — Controls up to 8 X10 modules at the touch of a button; dims lights.
• 2-Way Home Control Interface CM15A — PC-based control of up to 256 X10 modules; includes ActiveHome Pro software and USB cable.
• Thermostat Set-Back TH2807 — Automatically sets back central heating/AC; mounts under the existing thermostat and plugs into an Appliance Module.
• Wireless Remote Control System RC5000 — Controls 16 X10 modules from inside or outside the home; dims Lamp/Wall Switch Modules; works with the HR12A PalmPad Remote and X10 RF wall switches (SS13A, SS15A).
• Lamp Module LM465 — Dims/brightens from any X10 Controller, responds to "All Lights On," rated 300W incandescent only. 2-way version: LM14A.
• SocketRocket LM15A — Screws into an existing light fixture, controls up to 150W incandescent only.
• Appliance Module AM486/AM466 — 2-pin polarized (AM486) or 3-pin grounded (AM466) for controlling air conditioners, TVs, stereos, etc. Rated 15A (heaters, coffee pots), 1/3 HP (motors), 400W (TVs), 500W (lamps). 2-way versions: AM14A (2-pin), AM15A (3-pin).
• Wall Switch Module WS467 — Replaces an existing wall switch for indoor/outdoor security lights; dims/brightens from any X10 Controller; rated 500W incandescent only.
• 3-Way Wall Switch Module WS4777 — For lights controlled by two switches; same features as WS467.
• Split Receptacle Module SR227 — Replaces an existing wall outlet; top outlet functions as an Appliance Module, bottom outlet remains a regular outlet. Rated 15A.
• Universal Module UM506 — Isolated contact relay and beeper, settable for momentary or continuous operation. Not compatible with X10 security systems.

Warranty

X10 Wireless Technology, Inc. Limited 90-Day Warranty: X10.com warrants X10 products free from defective material and workmanship for 90 days from the original retail purchase date. X10 will repair or replace, at its sole discretion, a defective product returned within the warranty period with proof of purchase.

2. Return the defective unit postage prepaid to X10.
3. Enclose a check for $4.00 to cover postage and handling.
