    Installation and reference guide for the X10 XPT Transmitter Base — a wall-mounted transmitter base that pairs with plug-in X10 keypads (XP1, XP1A, XP2, XP2D, XP4, XP4D, XP4A).

    Overview

The XPT is a transmitter-only base that installs in a standard single-gang wall box and pairs with a snap-on X10 keypad faceplate. It does not switch any loads itself — it just sends X10 commands. A variety of keypad covers snap onto the XPT Base to customize each installation's button layout.

    Installing the XPT Transmitter Base

    1. In a standard single-gang wall box, connect the Black wire from the XPT Base to 120VAC Live, and the White wire to Neutral, using the included wire nuts. Make sure no bare wire strands are exposed — use insulation tape to cover if necessary.
    2. Set the red House Code dial to match the receiver modules you want to control.
    3. Set the black Unit Code dial to the first of four sequential commands you want to send.
    4. Place the desired keypad cover onto the XPT Base: insert the tab on top of the keypad under the notch on the XPT Base, then gently press the bottom of the keypad into place so the pins on the back insert into the XPT Base socket.

    Notes on Addressing

    • If controlling one device (as with an XP1 keypad), the Unit Code you set is the unit number transmitted.
    • If using an XP4 keypad, the first command uses the Unit Code the XPT is set to; the next three buttons use the next three sequential unit numbers.
    • The XPT automatically monitors the power line for noise/other transmissions and will not transmit until the line is clear.
