X10 WM100 Wi-Fi HUB — User Manual

Hardware Overview

Unlike traditional transceivers that must be hardwired directly into a router, the WM100 connects via Wi-Fi, so it can be placed anywhere within range of your router. It has a memory limit of 32 stored device addresses, but unlike traditional transceivers it can control any of the 256 possible X10 codes. The WM100 can also passively monitor and log X10 signals seen on the electrical line (viewable under Setup > X10 WiFi History and Settings).

Initial Installation

1. Install the app on your phone/tablet, granting location (for timers) and camera (for QR scanning) permissions.
2. Open the app on a device connected to your home network and select "Setup a new X10 WiFi HUB."
3. Locate the unique QR code on the back of the WM100 and tap "SCAN QR" in the app, then scan it.
4. The app auto-populates your current Wi-Fi network name; enter your Wi-Fi password and tap "NEXT."
5. Plug in the HUB within range of your router (generally within 100 ft).
6. Press and hold the "SYNC" button on the HUB for about 5 seconds until the LED blinks steadily, then release.
7. While the LED blinks, return to the app and tap "CONNECT."
8. On success you'll reach the "Success" screen and can begin adding X10 devices (retry if a failure message appears).

Important Wi-Fi note: The WM100 requires a 2.4GHz connection — it cannot connect to 5GHz networks. The HUB pulls network info from whichever device runs the app during setup, so make sure that phone/tablet is connected to your router's 2.4GHz band (often labeled with a "-5G" or "-5" suffix on the 5GHz option) before starting installation.

Adding additional phones/tablets: Install the app, select "Connect to an existing Hub," scan the same QR code, and the app will download the WM100's existing settings and device list.

App — Devices

Add Device: From the Devices tab, tap "Add Device," name it, set the house/unit code to match the physical X10 device, and indicate whether it's dimmable (and whether it's a plug-in module or wall switch, since dimming parameters differ). Tap Save.

Device Configuration (gear icon): Trash Device (delete), Add Timer (schedule ON/OFF/DIM by day of week), and Dawn/Dusk (trigger ON/OFF relative to local sunrise/sunset — requires location permission).

Adding a Timer: Choose ON or OFF, set the time, adjust dim level if applicable, choose weekly repeat and specific days. The "Security" option mimics an occupied home (useful while away), similar to X10's MT14A mini-timer.

Controlling a Device: Toggle ON/OFF from the Devices tab, dim via slider or +/- buttons, or use the global ON/OFF buttons in the upper right to control all listed devices at once.

App — Rooms

Rooms group devices for collective "ALL ROOM ON/OFF" control.

1. Tap "Add Room," name it (up to 16 characters), and Save.
2. Open the new room and tap "Add Device" to select devices from your full device list — each selected device disappears from the add-list and joins the room.
3. Use "ROOM ON"/"ROOM OFF" to control every device in that room at once.

Caution: Room ON/OFF affects every device added to that room (lamps, appliance modules, switches, receptacles, etc.) — don't add a device to a room if you don't want it responding to Room-wide commands.

Use "Trash Device" to remove a device from a room, or "Setup" to rename/delete the room.

App — Scenes

Scenes execute a sequence of commands across multiple devices with a single button — e.g., a "wake up" or "leave house" routine.

1. Go to the Scenes tab, tap "Add Scene," name it, and Save.
2. Open the scene's configuration and tap "Add Device" to add devices — a device can be added multiple times if you want it to, for example, turn on and then off again later in the same scene.
3. Tap the gear icon next to each device entry to set its ON/OFF state, dim level (if applicable), and an optional delay (e.g., "turn on 5 minutes after the scene starts"). Remove an entry with the red trash icon.
4. Save the scene, then run it from the Scenes tab by tapping its OFF/ON toggle — it displays "RUNNING – press to stop" for the duration of its delays, and can be stopped early by pressing again.
5. "RUN ALL" / "STOP ALL" buttons in the upper right control every saved scene at once.

App — Setup

• Adjust Time of HUB: Setup > General Settings > Adjust time of the WiFi HUB > Sync HUB time with this device (fixes incorrect timer scheduling).
• Check for Firmware Update: Setup > General Settings > Check for firmware update. Keep your device awake during the update to avoid interruption from sleep mode.
• X10 WiFi History and Settings: View the last 50 X10 commands seen on the power line (not just WM100-originated signals), plus firmware version, assigned IP address, and router port. "Clear History" wipes this log.
• Sync Data from HUB: Pulls the latest configuration from the WM100 — useful if changes were made from another device/app instance.
• Enter WiFi Setup Wizard: Change the Wi-Fi network or router password the WM100 uses.
• Reset to Factory Settings (App only): Clears app-side data only; reconnecting to the WM100 re-syncs its existing settings.
• Full Hardware Reset: Hold the SYNC button 10-15 seconds — a slow blink appears after ~4-5 seconds, then a fast blink and solid LED around 10-15 seconds, indicating the WM100 itself has been reset. The app will detect this and offer to reset to factory settings as well.
