    Security Cylinder Technology

Security/high-security cylinders (e.g., model 5153/5196/5197 series) combine two independent locking mechanisms: a traditional 6- or 7-pin tumbler mechanism with spool drivers for increased pick resistance, plus an innovative 5-tumbler rotating disc mechanism with sidebar engagement. Spring-loaded rotating discs block the bottom of the keyway; the sidebar prevents the cylinder plug from rotating unless the discs are perfectly aligned by the key's specific side bitting — a beveled key tip moves the discs to allow key entry.

    Interchangeable Core Compatibility

Levers accept SFIC (Small Format Interchangeable Core, all manufacturers) as well as LFIC (Large Format Interchangeable Core) from Corbin Russwin, Medeco®/ASSA®, Sargent, and Schlage® — selected via lever prefix codes (B-, R-, M-, SG-, SI-). A 108 Schlage® Cylinder Adapter Kit (P/N 14-5305-0090-048) is available to modify Schlage cylinders for nexTouch compatibility.

    Ordering Notes

    • The DPS (Door Position Sensor) option code is required to enable Advanced Functions (Escape Return and Privacy) — selecting it incurs an upcharge.
    • When ordering SFIC/LFIC cylinders, use the appropriate prefix before the lever selection.
    • Interchangeable core cylinders/cores ordered separately do not include control keys — these must be ordered separately.
    • All products comply with applicable ANSI/BHMA and other certifications and listings referenced in the full catalog.

This catalog contains detailed how-to-order part number tables, trim dimension drawings, and finish charts for all three platforms — refer to the downloadable PDF for complete ordering codes, cylinder cross-reference tables, and certification listings.
