Installation and setup guide for the X10 PRO PSH02 Power Horn Remote Siren — a plug-in 105dB X10 siren/annunciator that plugs into any outlet and receives X10 commands.

Description

This plug-in X10 PRO siren produces a "high pitched chirp" at 105dB. It can also be used as an annunciator (chime).

Specific Requirements

• 120VAC power
• Excites with a continuous ON/OFF cycle (2 cycles minimum), with a 4-second delay on startup and shutdown
• Excites with a continuous ALL Lights ON / ALL Units OFF cycle (2 cycles minimum), with a 4-second delay on startup and shutdown

X10 Protocol

• House Code Dial: letters A-P, default "A"
• Unit Number Dial: numbers 1-16, default "1"
• Each X10 receiver module is set to a unique Unit Number, or an identical Unit Number as desired.
• Each X10 controller operating a specific set of receiver modules must be set to the same House Code as the receivers it controls.

Electrical Protocol — Split-Phase Wiring

Nearly all residential homes are wired SPLIT-PHASE. Each 120V phase is NOT directly connected to the other 120V phase. If an X10 receiver does not respond to a remote controller after installation, check that the breaker serving the receiver is on the same phase as the controller — if not, move it to the opposite phase breaker. An alternative solution is to install a Phase Coupler for improved remote communications throughout the home (see x10pro.com Technical Support / PLC Troubleshooting).

Installation — Siren Mode

1. Plug the siren into the desired 120VAC wall outlet. Multiple siren modules can be used simultaneously, set to the same X10 address (e.g. "A1").
2. Determine your system type that will excite the siren:
   • Commercial security panel with X10 command capability: Program House Code "A" and Unit Number "1" per panel instructions. Program the panel, when in alarm condition, to send a continuous X10 ON & OFF command cycle. The siren excites 4 seconds after the cycle starts and quiets 4 seconds after it stops.
   • Non-X10 capable security panel: Use the PSC01 PowerFlash Security Interface module. Program the panel to emit a voltage (max 18VDC) or contact closure during an alarm condition. Plug in the PSC01 and connect it to the security panel appropriately. Set PSC01 to "A" for voltage or "B" for contact closure, Mode "2" for flashing ON/OFF mode.
   • X10 PRO security system: Refer to the X10 PRO Security System installation instructions. The siren can be excited by either a continuous ON/OFF or All Lights ON/All Units OFF cycle.
   • Manual excitation: Using any X10 controller, perform two ON/OFF cycles on the button matching the siren's set address. The siren continues sounding as long as the manual ON/OFF cycling is maintained.

Installation — Annunciator Mode

Performed by any type of X10 controller:

1. Send an X10 ON command at the siren's set address (e.g. "A1").
2. Then send an X10 Brighten/Dim command cycle. Brighten emits a high-pitched chime; Dim emits a low-pitched chime.
