X10 MK19A — Wireless Mouse Remote System Owner's Manual

The X10 MK19A Wireless Mouse Remote System includes the JR20A Mouse Remote and JR21A Wireless Receiver. It functions as a wireless PC mouse, a universal remote for audio/video equipment, and an X10 home automation controller — all from one handheld remote.

Battery Installation

1. Push the tab and lift off the battery cover.
2. Fit four AAA alkaline batteries, matching the + and - marks in the compartment.

Setting Up as a Wireless PC Mouse

1. Shut down and turn off your PC.
2. Unplug your existing mouse and plug the JR21A Receiver into your PC's mouse port (use the enclosed adapter for a PS/2 port). Plug your existing mouse into the socket on the Receiver.
3. Set the switch on the Receiver to the front position and turn the PC on.
4. Important: Do not connect the Receiver to a PS/2 port while the PC is powered on — the PC will not recognize the mouse. You can attach it to a serial port while powered on, but you'll need to reboot afterward. Wait ~10 seconds after rebooting before using the remote as a mouse.

Home Automation Setup

Each X10 module has a specific address made up of a House Code (A-P) and Unit Code (1-16), set via the two dials on the module face using a small screwdriver or coin. The controller sends the address, then a command, over the AC power lines — only modules with a matching address respond.

Transceiver Module (sold separately)

1. Set the House Code to 'A'.
2. Plug a lamp or appliance into the Transceiver Module.
3. Plug the Transceiver Module into a convenient AC outlet and fully extend the antenna.

Lamp Module (sold separately, up to 300W incandescent only)

Caution: Do not connect an appliance such as a coffee pot or heater to the Lamp Module — this may damage the module/appliance and cause a fire hazard.

1. Set the House Code to 'A' and Unit Code to '2'.
2. Plug a lamp into the Lamp Module, then plug the module into an AC outlet.

Controlling X10 Modules from the Remote

1. Press and release the X10 button.
2. Enter the Unit Code number of the chosen module using the number buttons.
3. Press the desired function: On = CHANNEL+, Off = CHANNEL-, Bright = VOLUME+, Dim = VOLUME-, All Lights On = POWER, All Modules Off = MUTE.

Note: You cannot dim/brighten an Appliance Module — pressing Bright or Dim on an off module simply turns it on.

Changing the X10 House Code

The remote defaults to House Code A. To change it (e.g. to avoid interference from a neighboring X10 system): press X10, press and hold SETUP until the LED lights steadily, enter the number equivalent of the desired House Code (1=A ... 16=P), then press ENTER to confirm. The chosen House Code must match the Transceiver Module's code.

Safety Considerations

• Use good judgment when scheduling unattended devices — e.g. an empty coffee pot left on can overheat, or a heater turned on remotely under draped clothing can cause fire.
• DO NOT use the system to control high-power heating appliances such as portable heaters.
• To reduce shock risk, do not disassemble any part of the system — no user-serviceable parts inside.
• Do not expose the system to rain or moisture.
