Installation instructions for the Winland Wireless WaterBug (WBTX-319 / WBTX-345) wireless water leak detector with remote probe.
Installation instructions for the Winland Wireless WaterBug® (model WBTX-319 / WBTX-345) — a wireless water leak detector transmitter with remote probe, designed to work with a compatible alarm control panel.
The WBTX is a fully electronic wireless water detector. It is not a self-contained warning device — it must be paired with an alarm system to sound an alert. The transmitter mounts on a wall or other flat vertical surface, while the remote probe is placed wherever water leakage is most likely (near water heaters, washing machines, under sinks, sump pumps, etc.).
Moisture bridging the two metallic contacts on the remote probe triggers an alarm condition. The alarm output stays active until the moisture bridge is broken. The unit is sensitive enough to detect true leaks but will not false-alarm from high humidity or condensation.
To test operation, form a water bridge between the two metallic contact points on the probe using a moistened finger or cloth. A properly functioning WBTX will activate the connected warning device within about three seconds. The unit resets automatically once the probe dries and the water bridge is broken. Test weekly to ensure proper operation.
