    Installation and owner's manual for the Winland EnviroAlert EA800 Multi-Zone Environmental Alarm System, which monitors up to 8 sensors (4 wired + 4 wireless) and provides alarm relay outputs when programmed limits are exceeded.

    Overview

    The EnviroAlert EA800 monitors environmental conditions from up to 4 wired and up to 4 wireless sensors (sold separately), and provides alarm signals when any sensor's readings exceed the user-programmable HIGH or LOW limit. Alarm signals are provided via dedicated relay outputs that can operate with process controls, security systems, or other automated equipment. Setup and programming is done via front panel keys and a graphic LCD display. Each sensor input has its own corresponding relay output, plus one AUX (Auxiliary) output that activates on any alarm condition, useful for connecting an audible alarm or strobe.

    Using appropriate accessory sensors, the EA800 monitors: temperature from –80°C to 150°C (–112°F to 302°F), humidity from 5% to 95% RH (non-condensing), presence of water, and any sensor with a 4-20mA interface. The console mounts directly to a standard 3-gang electrical enclosure or to walls; wireless sensors mount easily to a wall.

    Multiple EA800 units — or a mix of EA800, EA400, and EA200 systems — can be combined into a larger facility security/monitoring system, each feeding an alarm panel.

    Safety / Limitations of the Alarm System

    • No alarm system offers guaranteed protection against every failure — sensors can be bypassed, power can be interrupted, and telephone/wireless signal paths can be compromised.
    • Equipment is subject to component failure; weekly testing of detection devices, control panels, and keypads is recommended.
    • An alarm system is not a substitute for insurance.

    Sensor Types Supported

    • Temperature Sensors — wired thermistor probes (Red high-temp / Blue low-temp)
    • Humidity Sensors — 5% to 95% RH
    • 4-20mA Sensors — for process/industrial signals, with selectable power supply/sensor voltage
    • Water Sensors — presence-of-water detection
    • Multi-Function Sensors (EA-WMFS) — wireless combination sensor, up to 100 ft. (30 m) cable to remote probe

    Installation

    Tools and Supplies Required

    Standard hand tools, wire strippers, and appropriate sensor/alarm wiring (18-22 AWG typical). Power source must furnish 11 to 26VDC @ 500mA, regulated and filtered, from an AC adapter (not included) or alarm panel.

    Mounting

    The EA800 console mounts directly to a standard 3-gang electrical enclosure using pre-drilled holes on the rear case, or can be mounted to drywall or similar surfaces using appropriate anchors (not included). Wireless sensors mount to the wall in a similar fashion.

    Sensors and Wiring

    • Install and connect up to 4 wired sensors to the console's wired sensor inputs.
    • Install up to 4 wireless sensors and pair them to the console — verify wireless signal strength during setup (see Troubleshooting below).
    • Each wired or wireless sensor is assigned to a dedicated relay output (Relays 1–8, plus AUX).

    Programming

    • Access the MAIN MENU via the front panel soft keys (F1/F2/F3) and unlock the console with the password (default 0800) before making changes.
    • Configure system parameter settings, then add wireless sensors (with signal-strength verification) or wired sensors (including 4-20mA sensor setup).
    • Configure the relay behavior for each sensor/zone.

    Operation

    The EA800 uses a menu-based interface with three primary screens:

    • MONITORING (home) screen — shown when there are no active alarms; lists all programmed sensors and their current readings.
    • Pending alarm display — a sensor reading exceeding its programmed limit is shown in inverse (light-on-black) text while the programmed delay period has not yet elapsed.
    • ACTIVE ALARMS screen — shown when one or more sensors are in an active alarm or warning state; multiple simultaneous alarms are all listed.

    Other operation functions include viewing sensor settings, active alarms, the alarm log, event log, sensor log, firmware information, and RF signal information for wireless sensors.

    Maintenance

    • Lock/unlock the console to prevent unauthorized programming changes.
    • Pause monitoring (and cancel pause) during service work to avoid nuisance alarms.
    • Replace, edit, or delete sensors as needed.
    • Change date/time format and settings, sensor data collection frequency, buzzer setting, and password.
    • Clear the alarm log or sensor log.
    • Update firmware, and save/load configuration settings (useful for replicating settings across multiple units).
    • Export stored alarm, event, and sensor logs to CSV files (readable in Excel or any spreadsheet program) via the console's USB port.

    Troubleshooting

    To verify wireless signal strength: unlock the console, navigate to the sensor's PERFORMANCE screen, and confirm at least 2 signal-strength bars are shown (more bars reduce alarm latency and increase battery life). If fewer than 2 bars, relocate the sensor closer to the console or reduce obstructions.
