weBoost Home MultiRoom 4G Cellular Signal Booster (470144) — Installation Guide
Installation guide for the weBoost Home MultiRoom cell signal booster (model U470044/460044) — a residential cellular signal booster that amplifies weak outdoor cell signal and rebroadcasts it indoors for voice and 4G/LTE data across multiple rooms.
Plan for 1–2 hours of install time, ideally with two people (one to adjust the outside antenna, one to check signal on the inside antenna). Tools needed (not included): ladder, drill (if routing cable through a wall), an existing 1"–3" diameter pole for the outside antenna mount (or purchase the optional #901117 pole mount), and a surge-protected power strip is recommended. Do a "soft install" first to find optimal antenna locations before permanently mounting anything.
Place the Inside Antenna where the greatest signal boost is needed, with the Booster at least 24" away from it. Do not connect the booster to power until the whole system is installed. The Inside Antenna cable can be routed through the ceiling for a cleaner look. It can be mounted horizontally, vertically, or set on a desktop using the included kickstand; Command Strips can secure the mounting bracket.
Pole mounting is preferred over wall/fascia mounting because it's easier to adjust toward the cell tower. Attach the mount to the outside antenna, then use the bracket clamps to secure it to a 1.0"–3.0" diameter pole or exhaust pipe (watch for nearby power lines). Point the antenna toward the nearest cell tower — use a signal-mapping app (e.g. "Open Signal") to find it; this is the most critical step for overall system performance. The Outside Antenna must be positioned at least 50 feet horizontally or 20 feet vertically from the Inside Antenna, and the two antennas should face away from each other. If no pole is available, the antenna can be fascia-mounted using the back bracket clamp — run the optimization test (Step 4) first to find the best side of the house.
Connect the white RG-6 cable to the Outside Antenna and route it indoors (a Window Entry Cable is provided to simplify entry); connect the other end to the booster's "OUTSIDE ANTENNA" port. Connect the 30' white cable to the Inside Antenna and route it to the booster's "INSIDE ANTENNA" port. All connections should be finger-tightened only.
Plug the power supply into a surge-protected outlet, then connect it to the booster (turn 90° to lock). After powering up, optimize the outside antenna direction: rotate it in 1/8-turn increments, unplugging/reconnecting power after each turn while someone near the Inside Antenna checks signal strength on their phone. Secure the antenna pointing in the direction that gives the strongest signal.
A signal increase of just 3dB doubles the power/amplification. Reference thresholds: 3G/1x Excellent ≥ -70dBm, Good -71 to -85dBm, Fair -86 to -100dBm, Poor -101 to -109dBm, Dead Zone ≤ -110dBm. 4G/LTE Excellent ≥ -90dBm, Good -91 to -105dBm, Fair -106 to -110dBm, Poor -111 to -119dBm, Dead Zone ≤ -120dBm.
| Light | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Solid Green | Functioning properly, no installation issues. |
| Blinking Green & Red | One or more bands reduced gain due to feedback/oscillation (safety feature). No action needed if signal boost is already good. |
| Solid Red | A band has shut off due to oscillation feedback (safety feature) — see Troubleshooting. |
| Blinking Green & Yellow | One or more bands reduced gain due to overload from a nearby cell tower. |
| Solid Yellow | A band shut off from tower overload; outside antenna needs readjustment. |
| Light Off | Check that the power supply has power. |
Fixing Red light issues (Solid Red / Blinking Green-Red): verify the Inside and Outside antennas face away from each other (unplug/replug power); verify the Inside Antenna is ≥24" from the booster and pointed away from it; finger-tighten all cable connections (redo them completely if needed); increase antenna separation horizontally/vertically, adding cable if necessary — unplug/replug power after each fix.
Fixing Yellow light issues (Solid Yellow / Blinking Green-Yellow): wait 10 seconds between adjustments for lights to reset. Pole mount: rotate the outside antenna away from the strongest signal in small (45°) increments until the light turns green. Fascia mount: relocate the outside antenna to a different side of the building until the light turns green, then secure it.

Each booster is individually factory-tested and set for FCC compliance and cannot be adjusted without factory reprogramming. It amplifies without altering signals, reduces gain automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity, and auto-shuts-off any band that detects excessive signal or oscillation (auto-resuming after 1 minute, up to 5 times, after which that band stays off until the unit is manually power-cycled).
weBoost Signal Boosters carry a 2-year warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. Return to the reseller (with dated proof of purchase) or directly to weBoost (customer pays shipping) with an RMA number for repair or replacement at weBoost's discretion. Warranty does not apply to units damaged by misuse, abuse, neglect, or mishandling. Replacement units may include recertified refurbished product.
