Product sheet for the United Security Products WA-900 Wanderer Alert — a supervised 900MHz wireless system that detects patients wandering away and automatically sounds an alarm and calls for help.

    Overview

The Wanderer Alert protects loved ones and at-risk patients from wandering away unnoticed. A wireless pendant transmitter, worn on the wrist or ankle with a non-removable band, sends a signal to the receiver-dialer every 3 seconds. If the receiver doesn't hear from the pendant within an adjustable period — indicating the patient has moved beyond the set range — it automatically sounds a horn/strobe alarm and/or dials emergency numbers, delivering a pre-recorded message in any language. There are no monitoring fees, and only 1 transmitter is used per WA-900 system.

    How It Works

    1. The wireless pendant, attached to the patient with a non-removable band, sends a continuous signal to the Wanderer Alert unit every 3 seconds.
    2. When the patient attempts to wander away, the unit detects the missing signals and sounds the horn/strobe alarm and/or dials the programmed telephone, cell, or pager numbers, leaving the recorded message in any language. A switch on the unit selects whether dial-out is enabled.
    3. The system can monitor both High Risk and Low Risk patients.

    High Risk Patients

Turn the Range Dial left (CCW) until the desired Safe Area or Roaming Range is satisfactory. The pendant activates the Wanderer Alert when the patient wanders from the unit, allowing the patient to move throughout the home or living area.

    Low Risk Patients

Turn the Range Dial right (CW) until the desired Safe Area or Roaming Range is satisfactory. This allows the patient to move throughout living areas and into the garage, yard, garden, and to the mailbox. The alert activates when the patient wanders from the unit.

    Who Gets Alerted

When activated, the Wanderer Alert automatically detects wandering, sounds the alarm, and calls to deliver the help message to: family or neighbors, emergency services (where local regulations permit), health care providers, and cellular phones/pagers.

    Features

    • Sends a pre-recorded emergency voice message (up to 20 seconds) up to three times to four different numbers; supports "listen in" and 2-way speakerphone communication
    • No installation required — plugs into any standard telephone jack; program emergency numbers and record the voice message in any language
    • Automatically activated by the pendant transmitter when the patient wanders away
    • Optional 24-hour battery back-up ensures operation even during a power failure
    • Automatically skips to the next number on a busy signal or unanswered call, and keeps calling back until the message is delivered or the unit is deactivated
