Specification sheet for the Web Mountain Technologies RUC-01 Remote UPB Controller — a remote setup, management, and troubleshooting appliance for UPB (Universal Powerline Bus) home automation networks.

    Overview

The RUC-01 lets an installer run UPStart (the industry-standard UPB configuration software) remotely over a LAN or the Internet, allowing full setup, management, and troubleshooting of a customer's UPB network without a truck roll. Because it runs the actual UPStart software rather than a proprietary remote-access clone, the RUC-01 automatically gains every new feature and diagnostic capability (such as device-to-device communication testing) the moment a customer's installer updates their local copy of UPStart — no firmware update required on the RUC-01 itself.

The RUC-01 also implements all functionality of Web Mountain's TIM-01 timer, so the same device can be used for outdoor lighting, holiday lighting, vacation/"lived-in" simulation, and more. It maintains the current date and time, automatically adjusts for daylight saving time and leap years, includes an astronomical clock for sunrise/sunset-based programs, and uses flash memory to preserve correct operation through power outages.
