    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation and operation manual for the TrickleStar 180MS-US-8xx series smart power strip with motion-sensing peripheral control and surge protection.

    Overview

This TrickleStar power strip features high-quality surge protection, noise filtering, and a simple way to automatically reduce the standby power consumed by TV and PC peripherals. A motion sensor detects when you're present and active; combined with monitoring the on/off state of your TV or PC, it automatically powers connected peripherals (amplifiers, subwoofers, game consoles, scanners, printers, modems, etc.) down when you step away and back up when you return.

    Installation Requirements

    • The product must only be plugged into a grounded receptacle.
    • All connected devices should be plugged directly into the product.
    • Use of an extension cord, adaptor, or other power strip in conjunction with the product will void all warranties.
    • Do not "daisy-chain" the product in series with other power boards, UPS units, or surge protectors.
    • Use only indoors, in dry locations — not for use with aquariums or other water-related products.

    Product Overview / Outlet Behavior

    Condition Switched Outlet Behavior
PC/TV On + Movement Detected Peripherals On
    PC/TV Off Peripherals Off
No Movement Detected Peripherals Off (after 30 minutes)

    Indicators & Controls

    • Switched Outlets LED — lit when the switched outlets are powered
    • Ground LED — illuminated when the product is correctly grounded; if unlit, there is a grounding problem and you should contact an electrician
    • Surge LED — illuminated when surge protection is functioning normally; if it extinguishes or turns red, the product has sacrificed itself to protect your devices and must be replaced
    • Resettable Circuit Breaker — protects all outlets; press to reactivate power if no devices are powered or LEDs are lit
    • Always On Outlets — remain powered at all times, regardless of motion or TV/PC state

    Setup Steps

    1. Plug your TV/PC into the control outlet.
    2. Plug peripherals that should be switched off automatically (amplifier, subwoofer, game console, scanner, printer, modem, etc.) into the "switched" outlets.
    3. Plug peripherals that must remain on at all times into the Always On outlets.
    4. Plug the power strip into a grounded receptacle.
    5. Mount the motion sensor under the desk or near the TV, aiming it at the area where you want to detect movement.
    6. Turn on the TV/PC and ensure you're in the detection area — the peripherals will switch on.

    How It Works

When the motion sensor detects motion and the TV/PC is on, the switched outlets turn on. When the motion sensor detects no motion for 30 minutes, the switched outlets turn off — automatically cutting standby power to idle peripherals.
