Overview

The STI ED-50 "Rex Plus" is an electronic barking-dog alarm that uses microwave motion detection to deter intruders. Once plugged into a standard 110 VAC outlet, it operates continuously with no installation required — its radar-based sensor can "see" through doors, walls, and glass.

• Four selectable sound modes via a switch on the back of the unit:
  • Continuous rainforest sounds
  • Barking sound of a ferocious attack dog (barking frequency increases as movement gets closer)
  • Rainforest entrance chime — plays a melody to announce visitor arrival
  • Barking dog followed by a 20-second warning siren
• Detects movement through walls, doors, and glass
• Variable distance sensitivity up to 30 feet, plus volume control
• No installation required — just plug in

Operating Instructions

1. Insert the adaptor plug into the unit, then plug the AC adapter into an outlet.
2. Choose the desired mode by adjusting the switch on the back of the unit:
   • Rainforest — continuous nature sounds
   • Watchdog — detects moving objects; barking becomes more frequent as movement approaches
   • Rainforest (entrance chime) — plays a melody as a visitor approaches
   • Watchdog and Warning Siren — barks, then sounds a siren for 20 seconds when movement is detected
3. Turn on the VOLUME switch and adjust the RANGE control as needed. The range is set to maximum from the factory; if detection is too sensitive, turn the range knob counter-clockwise to reduce it.

Note: The ED-50 is designed for indoor use only. Mount at a height of 3–5 feet from the floor for the widest detection range. Setup and sensitivity adjustment may take some trial and error.

General Performance

• Distant approach: single or several barks
• Medium distance: single/multiple barks
• Close approach: fierce, continuous barks

The ED-50's microwave sensor operates at 2.4 GHz — the same frequency used by microwave ovens and home WiFi. These devices may occasionally cause false triggers. Higher sensitivity settings can increase microwave reflection interference; operation in an unoccupied room may optimize performance.
