    Quick programming guide for Somfy Maestria™ 50 RTS motors, used to drive retractable screens (Eolis/Soliris RTS systems). Covers factory-mode setup, end-limit programming, obstacle detection tuning, and adding remotes — condensed from the full illustrated PDF.

    Before You Begin

    • Motors ship in FACTORY MODE with no limit settings or transmitter IDs programmed.
    • Power must be connected only to the screen currently being programmed — disconnect power to all other screens during setup.
    • If the motor is 120V AC hardwired and cannot be easily disconnected, contact a licensed electrician before calling Somfy customer service.
    • While programming, don't leave the screen inactive longer than 2 minutes, or the motor will exit programming mode.

    Initiate Programming

    1. Connect power to the motor (120V AC) with the motor installed in the screen.
    2. On the transmitter, press and hold UP and DOWN simultaneously until the screen jogs — this confirms programming mode is active.
    3. Check direction of rotation by pressing UP or DOWN. If incorrect, press and hold MY until the screen jogs to reverse it. Warning: incorrect direction programming can damage the screen or cause injury.

    Setting End Limits — Manual Method

    1. Position the screen at the desired UPPER limit.
    2. Press MY + DOWN together — the screen lowers.
    3. Position the screen at the desired LOWER limit.
    4. Press MY + UP together — the screen raises.
    5. Press MY until the screen jogs to validate the setting.

    Setting End Limits — Automatic Method

    1. Bring the screen to its half-way position.
    2. Briefly press UP and DOWN together — the screen jogs.
    3. Press DOWN — the screen lowers until it detects the LOWER limit, bounces up briefly, then returns to the LOWER limit position.
    4. Press MY until the screen jogs to validate. (The UPPER limit is set automatically after validating the lower limit.)

    If the lower limit doesn't set automatically after several attempts, restart the process using the manual method.

    Automatic Catching System (QLock) Setup

    For screens with an automatic catching system at the lower limit, the entrance/exit points of the catch mechanism (positions P1 and P2) must be set:

    1. From half-way position, press and hold UP and DOWN together for 5 seconds until a slow jog movement begins.
    2. Press DOWN — screen lowers. Press MY to stop at position P1 (the catch's entrance point).
    3. Press MY + UP together — screen raises and puts tension on the fabric.
    4. Press DOWN again, then MY to stop at position P2 (the catch's exit point).
    5. Press MY until the screen jogs to validate the end-limit setting.

    Adding a Remote Control (User Mode)

    1. Switch off the main power supply (this deletes the pre-programmed transmitter).
    2. Switch power back on — the screen jogs.
    3. Simultaneously press UP and DOWN on the new remote until the screen jogs.
    4. Briefly press the PROG button on the new remote — the screen jogs again, confirming the remote is programmed.

    Obstacle Detection Sensitivity

    Adjusts how sensitively the motor detects an obstacle during downward movement:

    1. From half-way position, press MY + UP briefly, then MY + UP again and hold for 2 seconds — the screen jogs.
    2. Within 10 seconds, press UP or DOWN to select the detection level (if no input within 10 seconds, it reverts to User Mode).
    3. Press MY for 2 seconds to validate — the screen jogs.
    Level Behavior
    ESD 0 Most sensitive obstacle detection. Screen moves up/down slowly.
    ESD 1 (Default) Reliable detection for most zip screens. Normal jog speed.
    ESD 2 Obstacle detection deactivated. Screen moves up/down slowly.
