  • SkylinkHome LK-318 Series — Wireless Remote Transmitter Manual (LK-318-1/2/3)

    August 31, 2026 4 min read

Instruction manual for the SkylinkHome LK-318 Series wireless remote transmitters (1, 2, and 3-button models) used to operate SkylinkHome receiver modules.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Instruction manual for the SkylinkHome™ LK-318 Series wireless remote transmitters — available as the 1-Button (LK-318-1), 2-Button (LK-318-2), and 3-Button (LK-318-3) models — used to wirelessly operate SkylinkHome receiver modules (lights, switches, dimmers, garage door controls, etc.) via rolling-code RF signaling.

    Overview

The LK-318 series transmitter allows wireless operation of any SkylinkHome receiver module. All SkylinkHome wireless communications use rolling-code technology for security. Package contents include one LK-318 remote, a CR-2032 lithium battery (pre-installed), and the user's instructions.

    Power Up

    1. Remove the battery isolator from the transmitter — the red LED flashes once.
    2. Press the button on the transmitter; the red LED should flash again, confirming the transmitter is powered.

If the LED does not flash when the button is pressed, see the Battery section below.

Programming Transmitters to a Receiver Module

To operate a receiver module remotely, the transmitter must first be "learned" into that receiver.

    1. Put the target receiver module into programming mode (see that receiver's own instructions).
    2. Press buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously and hold for 2 seconds until the LED changes from on to flashing quickly, then release. The red LED stays on for 15 seconds.
    3. While the LED is steadily on, press the remote button you want to program to transmit the "Learn" code.
    4. Once programmed, the receiver exits programming mode and the transmitter is ready to use.

Repeat these steps to program different buttons on the same transmitter to different receiver modules.

    ON / OFF Operation

Pressing a programmed button toggles the connected load's state (on↔off). The red LED flashes briefly each time a signal is transmitted.

Advanced Feature — Password Protection (LK-318-3 only)

Password protection is available only on the 3-button LK-318-3 model (not on LK-318-1 or LK-318-2). When enabled, the remote can only be operated after entering the correct password. Passwords are 2–8 digits long using only buttons 1, 2, and 3 (e.g., 1-2-1-2, entered by pressing button 1, then 2, then 1, then 2). The input time-out between digits is 1 second. The factory default password is 2-2-2, and password protection is disabled by default.

    Enable Password Protection

    1. Press buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously and hold for more than 2 seconds, until the LED flashes quickly (but not yet slowly).
    2. Input the old password.
    3. Press 1 and 3 simultaneously once to confirm — if correct, password protection is enabled.

    Disable Password Protection

    1. Press buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously and hold for more than 5 seconds, until the LED flashes quickly (but not yet slowly).
    2. Input the old password.
    3. Press 1 and 3 simultaneously once to confirm — if correct, password protection is disabled.

    Change Password

    1. Press buttons 1 and 3 simultaneously and hold for more than 10 seconds, until the LED changes from flashing quickly to flashing slowly.
    2. Input the old password, then press 1 and 3 once simultaneously to confirm. (If wrong, the LED flashes 3 times and you must restart from step 1.)
    3. Input the new password, then press 1 and 3 once simultaneously to confirm.
    4. Input the new password again, then press 1 and 3 once simultaneously to re-confirm. (If it doesn't match, the LED flashes 3 times and you must restart from step 1.)

The overall setting time-out is 15 seconds; the LED flashes 3 times and exits setting mode after a timeout.

Forgot Password / Factory Reset (LK-318-3)

    1. Press buttons 1 and 2 simultaneously and hold for more than 15 seconds until the LED flashes.
    2. Release both buttons — the LED turns off and the remote resets, restoring the factory default password.

After a reset, password protection is removed, but the remote will not control any receiver until it is reprogrammed to the receivers you want to control.

    Battery Replacement

Replace the battery when operating range is reduced or the red LED no longer flashes during operation. The transmitter uses one CR-2032 lithium battery (positive side up).

    1. Undo the two screws on the back of the remote; the bottom case comes off.
    2. Remove the old battery.
    3. Insert the new CR-2032 battery, positive side up.
    4. Close the cover and reinsert the two screws.

Dispose of the old battery promptly and properly.
