    Installation and programming instructions for the 2GIG-TAKE-345 Super Switch, a wireless takeover module that converts 8 hardwired zones into supervised wireless zones.

    Overview

    The 2GIG-TAKE-345 Super Switch is 2GIG's wireless takeover module, designed to convert 8 hardwired zones into eight wireless zones on existing 12-volt control panels. Mount it next to the existing control panel where the hardwired zones connect. All zones on the Super Switch act as supervised wireless zones.

    Important: If the control panel has been removed, a 12-volt power supply with battery backup is required (not supplied). Warning: The Super Switch cannot be used to monitor fire or CO detection zones. This is not for use in a UL/ETL listed installation using standard wiring (see UL/ETL note below).

    Programming (Learning into a 2GIG Control Panel)

    Scroll between options with the ← and → arrows; move between prompts with ↑ and ↓.

    1. Select RF sensor # (01-48) — assign the module to a new zone (Terminals 1-8).
    2. Select RF sensor type: (01) Exit/Entry, (02) Exit/Entry, (03) Perimeter, (04) Interior Follower.
    3. Select RF equipment type.
    4. Select RF sensor equipment code — enter 0873 for the 2GIG-TAKE-345.
    5. Enter the RF sensor serial number (7 digits): Manual entry — use the last 7-digit serial ending in "1" (XXX-XXXX1) found on the back of the unit for Zone 1; add a digit for each additional zone (Zone 2 = XXX-XXXX2, etc.). Auto entry — put the panel in Learn-in mode (Shift + Learn), trip the desired zone, and accept the TX ID that appears.
    6. Select RF sensor equipment age: (0) new.
    7. Select RF sensor loop number: (1) 1.
    8. Select RF sensor dialer delay: (0) disabled / (1) enabled.
    9. Construct the RF sensor descriptor — press Insert then a word code number (002-255), e.g. 252 = WIRELESS, 191 = SENSOR, 233 = TOOL.
    10. Select RF sensor reports: (0) disabled / (1) enabled (reports to central station).
    11. Select RF sensor supervised: (0) disabled / (1) enabled (reports loss of supervision or low battery).
    12. Select RF sensor chime: (0) disabled / (1-13) select a voice/chime tone.
    13. Click "next" to program another sensor.
    14. Click "skip" then "end and exit" to finish — the panel takes a few seconds to reset.

    Mounting

    Screw the mounting bracket to a wall and attach the Super Switch. To release the bracket, pull up on the tab and slide it down. Mount with the 2 provided screws, within RF range of the control panel.

    Wiring — With an Existing Power Source

    1. Remove AC power from the existing wired panel.
    2. Remove leads from the battery on the existing panel.
    3. With power removed, wire the zones to the Super Switch. Terminals 3-10 correspond to Zones 1-8. Take the positive/HI side of each zone off the existing panel and connect it to the matching terminal on the Super Switch (e.g., Zone 1 → terminal 3). Leave the negative/LO (GND) side wired to the existing control panel.
    4. Repeat for all zones to be connected.

    Tip: alternatively, remove all LO wires from the existing panel, group them together, and connect to the ground port.

    Warning: This wiring method (using existing panel's LO side) is not for use in a UL/ETL listed installation.

    Wiring — Without an Existing Power Source

    Wire the zones to the Super Switch before connecting power. Terminals 3-10 = Zones 1-8; connect the positive/HI side of each zone to the matching terminal.

    1. Repeat for all zones to be connected.
    2. Group all LO/GND wires together and connect them to terminal 1/G (GND port).

    Warning: Do not plug the power supply/charger transformer into an outlet controlled by a switch.

    Powering the Super Switch and Other Devices

    1. The Super Switch has two wires: RED (+) and BLACK (−). Connect Red to the red terminal and Black to the black terminal on the existing control panel's battery.
    2. Connect the wires from the existing control panel's battery into the spade lugs on top of the Super Switch's battery wires.
    3. If using an existing power source: wire the existing panel's AUX power out to terminal 2/12V port on the Super Switch. Devices needing power (PIRs, glass break detectors, etc.) must receive power from the existing control panel's AUX power. Reconnect AC power to the existing panel.

    Note: Remove all other devices wired to AUX power on the existing control panel (keypads or other unused devices requiring power). Warning: Not for use in a UL/ETL listed installation using this wiring method.

    Monitoring & Testing the Battery

    The Super Switch operates on the connected battery during an AC failure (unless the battery can't supply enough power). It monitors battery voltage and reports "low battery" for each zone (if enabled in programming step 11) when voltage drops below normal for a sustained period.

    If you get a Low Battery indicator:

    1. Test battery voltage with a volt reader to confirm 12 volts are passing through the switch.
    2. If the battery is fine, remove power from the Super Switch (disconnect battery and AUX power terminal 2).
    3. Rewire the Super Switch by connecting the battery first.
    4. Once powered by the battery, connect AUX power to terminal 2.
    5. Remove power from the control panel, then power it back up. The Low Battery indicator should clear if everything is wired correctly.

    Important: If there's no existing system, use your own power supply and group all ground wires together, connecting them to the ground port on the Super Switch.

    UL/ETL Listed Installations

    For UL/ETL listed installations, use: Altronix power supply/charger model AL100UL with an Altronix plug-in transformer model TP1620, and a Power Sonic Model PS-1212 12 Volt 1.4 Amp Hour rechargeable sealed lead acid battery (or equivalent).

    Important Notes

    • All Super Switch zones are "normally closed" zones.
    • Maximum loop resistance cannot exceed 3K ohms. If it does and the existing panel used an end-of-line resistor, that resistor may be removed.
    • Different control panels use different terminals for each zone and AUX power — refer to the existing panel's wiring diagram. Example: on a "Vista" panel, the HI side of Zones 1-8 is typically terminals 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, and 20; AUX positive is typically terminal 5.
