    Introduction

    The KN-318 keypad transmitter works with Skylink Garage Door receivers such as the Smart Button™ and the EQ/IQ opener series. Package includes one keypad transmitter.

    Operating Modes

    • Single Door (factory default): Operates one Skylink garage door opener or Smart Button™ receiver. No extra setup needed beyond programming to the receiver (see Programming section).
    • Multiple Doors: Operates up to 4 garage door openers/receivers. Requires activating Multiple Door mode first, then programming a unique signal for each of the 4 doors.

    Enabling/Disabling Multiple Door Mode

    1. To enable: Enter the current password (factory default 0000), then press [*]. Then press [9] and [#] — two beeps confirm Multiple Door mode is enabled.
    2. To disable: Enter the current password (0000), press [*]. Then press [0] and [#] — two beeps confirm Multiple Door mode is disabled.

    Sending Signals in Multiple Door Mode

    • Door 1: [Password][#][1]
    • Door 2: [Password][#][2]
    • Door 3: [Password][#][3]
    • Door 4: [Password][#][4]

    Each of these 4 signals must be separately programmed to the corresponding garage door opener or Smart Button™ receiver (see Programming section below).

    Basic Operation (Single Door Mode)

    Press [Password][#] — factory default password is [0000]. Three beeps confirm the password was accepted.

    For Multiple Door mode: press [Door Password][#][Door Number] where door number is 1, 2, 3, or 4.

    Programming the Keypad to a Receiver

    Programming to a Smart Button™

    1. With the Smart Button™ connected to your existing wall button, the red LED should flash after power is connected. A slow-flashing red LED indicates standby mode.
    2. Press the "Learn" button on the side of the Smart Button™.
    3. Once pressed, the red LED will flash rapidly — you may release the Learn button.
    4. Within 5 seconds, enter the default PIN [0000][#][X], where X is the door number.
    5. Once programmed, the red LED will return to slow flashing (standby mode).

    Programming to a Skylink EQ Series Garage Door Opener

    1. Press the "Learn" button located on the EQ series opener. The yellow LED will flash for 30 seconds.
    2. Within those 30 seconds, activate the keypad transmitter — e.g. [0000][#] for single door operation, or [0000][#][door number] for multiple door operation.
    3. Once programmed, the yellow LED turns off.

    Programming to a Skylink IQ Series Garage Door Opener

    1. Press and hold the PROG button on the LCD wall console for 10 seconds until "PROG" appears on the display.
    2. Press the PROG button again until the remote symbol appears on the display.
    3. Activate the keypad transmitter — [0000][#] for single door, or [0000][#][door number] for multiple doors. If a remote is successfully programmed, the symbol stays lit.

    To program an additional remote, press the arrow key — the symbol will blink to indicate you can program more remotes.

    Removing the Keypad Transmitter from a Receiver

    Refer to the garage door receiver's own manual for instructions on erasing a programmed keypad transmitter.

    Changing the PIN

    1. Enter the current PIN (factory default 0000), press [*].
    2. Enter a new 2-8 digit PIN, press [*].
    3. Enter the new PIN again, press [*].

    Example: to change from 0000 to 123456, enter: 0000, *, 123456, *, 123456, *.

    If the second entry doesn't match the first, the keypad emits a long error beep and you must restart from step 1. Two short beeps confirm a successful PIN change.

    Installation

    Mount the keypad transmitter at the desired position using the supplied screws. Loosen the screw at the bottom of the housing, remove the back cover, secure the cover in the desired position with screws, and reinstall the keypad unit onto the back cover. Tighten the bottom screw.

    Battery

    Uses one 1.5V AA alkaline battery (not included). Replace the battery when the indicator light no longer appears when a button is pressed.

    Warning

    Do not allow children to use the transmitter unsupervised — children can be injured or injure others with a moving garage door.

    Troubleshooting

    Q: The garage door opener doesn't respond after pressing a button on the keypad transmitter.

    A: Confirm you hear 3 beeps from the keypad transmitter after entering the default PIN [0000][#][X] within 5 seconds (X = door number). If you don't hear 3 beeps, the PIN entered was incorrect — re-enter the correct PIN. Also confirm the keypad transmitter has been properly programmed to the Smart Button™ (see Programming section).

    Warranty & Support

    If, within one year of purchase, this product fails due to a manufacturing or materials defect (excluding batteries), it will be repaired or replaced free of charge with proof of purchase.
