Skylink KN-318 Garage Door Keypad Transmitter — Manual

Overview

The Skylink® KN-318 is a wireless keypad transmitter for garage door openers, designed to work with Skylink garage door receivers such as the Smart Button™ and the EQ/IQ Garage Door Opener. This manual (originally published in French) covers programming, multi-door operation, PIN changes, and troubleshooting for the KN-318 keypad.

Package includes: 1x KN-318 keypad transmitter, 2x M3.5 x 20 mounting screws.

Operating Modes

Single Door (factory default)

The KN-318 can operate a single Skylink garage door or Smart Button receiver out of the box. If you only need to control one door/receiver, skip directly to the Programming section below.

Multiple Doors

If you have multiple Skylink garage door openers or Smart Button receivers, the KN-318 can be configured to operate up to 4 doors. See "Enabling Multi-Door Mode" below before programming.

Multi-Door Operation Setup

Enabling Multi-Door Mode

1. Enter your current PIN, then press [*] (default PIN is 0000).
2. Press [9][#] — you'll hear 2 beeps confirming multi-door mode is enabled.

Disabling Multi-Door Mode

1. Enter your current PIN, then press [*].
2. Press [0][#] — 2 beeps confirm multi-door mode is disabled.

Sending Signals to Specific Doors (while in Multi-Door mode)

• Door 1: [PIN][#][1]
• Door 2: [PIN][#][2]
• Door 3: [PIN][#][3]
• Door 4: [PIN][#][4]

Each of the 4 door signals must be individually programmed (learned) into its corresponding Skylink opener or Smart Button receiver — see the Programming section below.

Programming the Keypad to a Garage Door Receiver

To operate in Single Door mode, press [PIN][#] (default PIN is 0000). For Multi-Door mode, press [PIN][#][Door Number] (1–4). Three beeps confirm the PIN was accepted. Decide which operating mode and door number you need before programming.

I) Programming to the Smart Button™

1. With the Smart Button connected to the existing wall console, its red LED should blink slowly, indicating standby mode.
2. Press the Smart Button's Learn button on its side.
3. Once pressed, the red LED will blink rapidly — you can release the button.
4. Within 5 seconds, enter the pre-programmed combination: [0000][#][x], where "x" is the door number.
5. Once programmed, the red LED returns to its slow standby blink.

II) Programming to the EQ Garage Door Opener

1. Press the "Learn" button on the EQ opener — the yellow LED will blink for 30 seconds.
2. Within those 30 seconds, activate the keypad: [0000][#] for single-door operation, or [0000][#][Door Number] for multi-door operation.
3. Once programmed, the yellow LED turns off.

III) Programming to the IQ Garage Door Opener

1. Press and hold the PROG button on the LCD wall console for 10 seconds until the "PROG" icon appears on the screen.
2. Press PROG again until the remote control icon appears.
3. Activate the keypad: [0000][#] for single-door, or [0000][#][Door Number] for multi-door. If a remote is successfully programmed, the remote icon stays lit.
4. To program an additional remote, press the remote-icon button again — the icon will blink, allowing you to program another transmitter.

Installation

1. Choose a desired mounting location and use the provided screws.
2. Remove the screw at the bottom of the case and take off the back cover from the keypad body.
3. Attach the back cover to the desired mounting location with screws.
4. Reinstall the keypad unit onto the back cover and tighten the bottom case screw.

Changing the PIN

1. Enter the current PIN (default 0000), then press *.
2. Enter a new PIN of 2–8 digits, then press *.
3. Re-enter the new PIN again, then press *.

Example: to change the PIN from 0000 to 123456, enter: 0000, *, 123456, *, 123456, *. Two beeps confirm success. If the re-entered PIN doesn't match, the keypad emits a long error beep — start over from step 1.

Battery

Requires one 1.5V AAA alkaline battery. Replace the battery when the rear LED no longer lights up when a button is pressed.

Troubleshooting

Q: The garage door opener doesn't respond when keypad buttons are pressed. What should I do?

• Confirm you hear 3 beeps after entering the pre-programmed combination [0000][#][x] (x = door number). If you don't hear 3 beeps, your PIN entry is incorrect — try again.
• Confirm the keypad transmitter has actually been programmed (learned) into the Smart Button or opener receiver — see the Programming section above.

Clearing the Keypad from a Receiver

To remove/erase the KN-318 keypad transmitter's code from a Smart Button or opener receiver, refer to that receiver's own manual for its "clear transmitter" procedure.

Safety Warning

DO NOT let children operate the garage door transmitter without adult supervision — children can be injured or injure others with a garage door.

This universal garage door remote is FCC-approved and complies with FCC Part 15. Operation is subject to two conditions: (1) this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Unauthorized changes or modifications could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

Warranty

If this product becomes defective (excluding the battery) due to a manufacturing or material defect within one year of the purchase date, it will be repaired or replaced free of charge. Proof of purchase is required.
