Serene Innovations HD 40P — Amplified Telephone Operating Guide

Operating guide for the Serene Innovations HD 40P High Definition Amplified Telephone — a corded phone with speakerphone, adjustable incoming-sound amplification, one-touch photo memory dialing, and wall-mount capability, designed for hard-of-hearing users.

Important Safety Instructions

WARNING – basic precautions should always be followed when using telephone equipment or electric appliances, including:

• Read all instructions before use.
• Close supervision is necessary when used near children.
• Do not contact moving parts or exposed metal surfaces.
• Only use manufacturer-recommended attachments.
• Do not use outdoors or near water (bath tub, sink, laundry tub, wet basement, or swimming pool).
• To disconnect, turn all controls off, then remove the plug from the outlet — grasp the plug, not the cord.
• Unplug before servicing or cleaning, or when not in use.
• Do not operate with a damaged cord/plug or after malfunction/dropping — return to an authorized service facility.
• Use only the power cord and batteries specified in the manual; do not dispose of batteries in fire.
• Plug any power adapter into a socket-outlet near the equipment that remains easily accessible.
• Avoid use during electrical storms (remote risk of shock from lightning).
• Do not use this telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak.

Feature Identification

• Handset hook — for wall-mounting use only
• One-touch memory dialing buttons — with photo insert capability
• Hold — puts a call on hold and mutes the handset
• Prog — programs a number into memory
• Amplify — turns the powerful handset amplifier on/off manually
• Flash — switches between the current call and a call waiting
• Redial / Pause — dual-function: redials the last number during normal use, or inserts a 2-second pause during memory programming (e.g. 9 PAUSE 755-8222 dials 9, pauses 2 seconds, then dials the rest)
• Tone/Pulse — selects tone or pulse dialing (tone is faster)
• Ringer Tone / Ringer Volume — selects ring tone and volume
• Speaker on/off with indicator — hands-free speakerphone dialing/conversation (handset must be on its cradle)
• Tone — enhances speech clarity; positions 1–4 enhance low, mid, mid-high, and high tone respectively
• Volume — adjusts handset volume
• Amplify LED indicator and call-on-hold visual indicator
• Amplifier Auto On/Off — ON: amplifier activates automatically at the previous level every time the handset is lifted. OFF: press Amplify manually each time.

Connections

Connect the phone as illustrated in the included diagram, then lift the handset to test. If you hear a dial tone, the telephone is ready.

Wall Mounting

1. Slide out the handset hook, turn it upside down, and reinsert — this keeps the handset in place when wall-mounted.
2. Fit the wall-mount bracket into the base of the phone.
3. Connect the short phone cord. Align the mounting holes over the wall plate screw heads and slide the phone down slightly to lock it in place.

Using the Speakerphone

1. Press the Speaker button to turn on the speakerphone, or press it while on a call to switch and return the handset to its cradle.
2. Adjust the Volume switch to a comfortable level.
3. Press Speaker again to end the call.
4. Pressing HOLD during a call mutes the microphone and places the call on Music-On-Hold; press again to release hold and un-mute.

Amplifying Incoming Sounds (Manual / Automatic)

1. While on the phone, press Amplify to turn the amplifier on.
2. Adjust the Volume switch to a comfortable level.
3. Adjust the Tone switch until incoming voice is clear — only needed the first time; the setting is remembered.
4. For always-on amplification, slide the Amplifier Auto On/Off switch (underside) to ON. To turn off, press Amplify; press again to return to Auto-on mode.

Programming a Number for One-Touch Memory Dialing

1. Lift the handset, press PROG.
2. Dial the phone number to save (maximum of 15 digits).
3. Press PROG again.
4. Press the memory button to store the number under, then hang up.

Inserting a Photo in a Memory Button

Cut your photo using the included template as a guide. Lift the transparent cover of the memory button, insert the photo, and replace the cover.

Warranty

One-year limited warranty from date of purchase covering defects in materials and workmanship under intended home use. Return the unit (freight prepaid) with proof of purchase to Serene Innovations for repair or replacement. Free repair/replacement within 30 days of purchase; a $9.95 handling charge applies for returns made 30 days to 1 year after purchase. Does not cover accidental damage, abuse, misuse, unauthorized alterations, or use on incorrect voltage/frequency.
