Installation manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER SD-962AR-36A Rim Exit Device.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER SD-962AR-36A Rim Exit Device — a heavy-duty stainless-steel exit bar that mounts on the inside of a door, allowing free egress from a protected area while keeping the door locked from the outside.

    What It Does

Mounted on the inside of a door, the SD-962AR-36A securely locks the door from outside access while allowing anyone inside to exit by pushing the bar. The stainless-steel enclosure protects the mechanism from abuse, and it can be connected to an external door handle with a lock (or any physical locking device) to allow keyed entry from outside.

    Features

    • Reversible, non-handed design — fits metal or wood doors up to 1-3/4" thick.
    • Stainless-steel 3/4" throw latch bolt with a separate deadlocking latch (prevents credit-card style bypass).
    • Allen-type 1/4-turn dogging lock — holds the device unlocked for extended periods.
    • Fits doors from 30" to 48" wide; heavy-duty steel construction with stainless steel spring.
    • Includes all hardware needed for a typical installation; works with standard external door handle/lock devices (not included).

    Installation Overview

    1. Mark the center line of the exit bar on the door by drawing a line across the door at 40" above the floor.
    2. Fold the included paper template and align its center lines with the line just drawn on the door, then mark the mounting-hole positions for the latch assembly.
    3. Move the template against the door stop and mark the mounting holes for the strike.
    4. Drill the marked holes on the door and the mullion (if applicable).
    5. Mount the device, the strike, and connect the dogging mechanism to hold it unlocked when needed.

Note: For doors with a door-stop depth under 5/8", use the included 1/8" strike shim; for door-stop depth of 5/8" or more, the shim is typically not needed. The device supports single door, and double-door configurations both with and without a mullion.

    Warning

Incorrect mounting that leads to exposure to rain or moisture inside the enclosure could damage the device and void the warranty.

    Warranty

Warranted against defects in material and workmanship for one (1) year from date of sale to the original customer. SECO-LARM's obligation is limited to repair or replacement of the returned (transportation prepaid) unit.
