    Manual for the SECO-LARM SD-994A-A1AQ / SD-994A-A1SQ Electric Strikes — a fail-secure electric strike that converts a standard cylindrical lock set into an electronic access-controlled locking system, available in asymmetric (A1AQ) and symmetric (A1SQ) faceplate versions.

    Installation Overview

    1. Remove the faceplate from the strike; it can be rotated horizontally for right- or left-hand operation, and the strike portion can be rotated vertically to match the door bolt.
    2. Position the strike to match the door bolt, then mark the outer dimension on the door jamb.
    3. Use a chisel to cut a hole in the door jamb measuring 1-1/4" x 3" x 1-1/2" (32x75x38mm).
    4. Hold the strike in the hole and test operation with the door bolt before proceeding.
    5. Reattach the faceplate, use it as a template to mark its outline, then chisel a recess 1/8" (3.2mm) deep for the faceplate to sit flush.
    6. Re-seat the strike with faceplate attached and re-check fit and operation.
    7. Connect the two wires (polarity does not matter) to an access control or egress device such as a keypad, pushbutton, or push bar. Insulate the connections carefully and route them into the jamb so they aren't exposed.
    8. Screw the faceplate tightly to the door jamb using the two included wood screws.

    Important: Warranty is voided if power is applied to the strike for more than 15 seconds continuously.

    Troubleshooting

    Issue Check
    Electric strike does not activate Wires connected properly; use a multimeter to confirm proper voltage/amperage (heavier gauge wire or a stronger power supply may be needed); confirm the activation device (keypad/pushbutton) is working.
    Door does not open when the strike is activated Check the door latch is operating properly and replace if necessary; the strike position may need adjustment or shims/washers.
