Installation manual for the SECO-LARM Enforcer SD-7217-GSBQ (single-gang) and SD-7317-GSBQ (European plate) Request-to-Exit Plate with Status LED and Adjustable Buzzer.

    Overview

The SD-7217-GSBQ provides great flexibility in a small package by adding both visible and audible indicators to a Request-to-Exit plate. The buzzer and LED can be configured separately or together depending on the application. Possible uses include indicators for the visually- or hearing-impaired, and alerts for door open/door unlocked/door propped open/door forced open detection.

    Features

    • 12/24 VDC operation
    • Vandal-resistant buzzer with adjustable sound level for audible status indicator
    • Selectable dual-color LED (red/green) for visual status indicator
    • Buzzer and LED can be configured separately
    • N.O./N.C. contacts rated 10A @ 125VAC
    • Stainless-steel plate

    Parts List

    • 1x RTE plate
    • 2x Mounting screws
    • 2x Resistors (1kΩ, 1/4W)
    • 1x Manual

    Panel Layout

The plate has a large "EXIT" pushbutton in the center, with the LED status indicator (off/red/green) and adjustable-volume buzzer indicator mounted above the pushbutton.

    Installation Instructions

Before beginning, determine the intended application of both the buzzer and LED — whether they will be used as redundant indicators of one input status, or to indicate two different input statuses — and decide on the desired LED color.

    1. Run 4~6 wires through the wall to a single-gang back-box, as needed: two wires for the LED light, two wires for the buzzer, and two wires from the COM terminal and either the N.O. or N.C. terminal of the locking device.
    2. Connect the wires from the locking device:
      • For N.C. operation — connect the COM and N.C. wires from the locking device to the red-colored terminal block of the pushbutton switch.
      • For N.O. operation — connect the COM and N.O. wires from the locking device to the blue-colored terminal block of the pushbutton switch.
      • Connect the two buzzer wires observing polarity — gray to positive (+), black to negative (-).
      • Connect the two LED wires according to the desired color (see LED Color Selection below).
    3. Test and adjust the buzzer volume by turning the volume control knob clockwise to increase, counterclockwise to decrease.
    4. Screw the plate onto the back-box, taking care not to crimp the wires.

    24VDC Operation

Important: This device is designed for a 12VDC power supply. When using a 24VDC power supply, one of the included resistors must be wired in-line with the positive (+) wire of both the status LED and the buzzer. Wiring differs slightly depending on whether a red or green LED is selected — see the manual's resistor-installation diagram for exact lead placement.

    Sample Applications

Application #1 — Constant-On LED, Buzzer Sounds When Activated: When the button is pressed, the door unlocks, the LED remains on, and the buzzer sounds until the door relocks. This configuration pairs the SD-7217-GSBQ with an E-941SA-600 electromagnetic lock, a 12/24VDC power supply, and an SA-026Q timer module for relay/trigger control.

Application #2 — Alternating-Color LED, Buzzer Sounds When Activated: When the button is pressed, the door unlocks, the buzzer sounds, and the LED changes color (e.g., standby-red, unlocked-green) until the door relocks. This configuration adds an SR-2212-C5AQ DPDT relay board between the RTE plate, an E-941SA-600 electromagnetic lock, a 12/24VDC power supply, and an SA-026Q timer module. (Lock, timer, and relay board are not included.)
