Installation manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER SH-816S Self-Contained Siren or Siren/Strobe — a weatherproof, multi-purpose siren, speaker, and optional strobe for indoor or outdoor use.

Overview

The ENFORCER Siren/Strobe series can serve as a standard alarm siren, but also includes an audio input for playing back broadcast messages. The SH-816S-SQ variant adds a xenon-tube strobe light with a choice of amber, blue, clear, or red lens, triggerable separately from the siren. It mounts to a wall or a standard single-gang, double-gang, or C-type back box.

Installation Steps

1. Determine the installation location — surface-mount or to a back box.
2. Remove the two screws from the two tabs attaching the back to the main unit.
3. Squeeze the included back removal tool and insert it through the wiring access hole in the back — release and pull carefully until the back separates from the unit.
4. Thread the wires (up to 8, depending on the application) through the center hole in the back, then install the back to the wall/backbox using the four mounting holes, oriented so the engraved arrow points up. Avoid the tamper switch hole. For non-standard boxes, drill out other engraved oval indentations as needed.
5. Connect the wires to the terminals per the desired application (see wiring terminals below).
6. Carefully slide the main unit onto the back, checking the orientation notch/arrows and confirming the terminal plugs are correctly engaged.
7. Reattach the main unit to the back with the two screws removed in step 2.

Wiring Terminals

The unit's back terminal block includes: STROBE +12VDC, GND, SIREN +12VDC, TAMPER (x2), and SPEAKER (x2). Two application diagrams are provided for wiring the siren, strobe, and audio input, plus a tamper switch built into the back for enclosure-open detection.

Sample Applications

• Triggering both siren and strobe together (with optional audio input): connect a single triggering device across the alarm system's output, wired to both the SIREN and STROBE +12VDC terminals in parallel.
• Siren and strobe triggered by separate devices (with optional audio input): use two independent triggering devices, one wired to SIREN +12VDC and one to STROBE +12VDC.

Important: the speaker input and siren input cannot be connected at the same time.

Warranty

Warranted against defects in material and workmanship for one (1) year from the date of sale to the original customer. SECO-LARM's obligation is limited to repair or replacement of the defective part, transportation prepaid.
