To prevent erratic operation or false alarms:
The lens can be adjusted ±90° horizontally and ±5° vertically. Install at 32"–39" (80–100cm) above the ground for most situations.
Run a cable from the alarm control panel to the photobeam sensor. Use electrical conduit if burying the cable; shielded cable is strongly recommended.

Note: when two or more sets are connected, divide the max cable length above by the number of sets. Power line can be wired up to 3,300 ft. (1,000m) using AWG22 telephone wire.
Requires a pole mounting bracket. Remove the cover and mounting plate as above, break a hole in the grommet, pull the cable through, mount the bracket to the pole, then reattach the sensor unit and wire connections.
Transmitter: Power (+/−, 10–30VDC non-polarized) and Tamper output (N.C. switch, 120V AC/DC, 1A — triggers if cover is detached).
Receiver: Power (+/−, 10–30VDC non-polarized), Alarm output (N.C./N.O., 120V AC/DC, 1A), and Tamper output (N.C. switch, 120V AC/DC, 1A). Screw terminals snugly — tight enough not to slip, not so tight they break. Unused terminal screws should still be tightened. Grounding may be necessary depending on location.
Multiple sensors can be wired to a single control panel as: (1) a standard single sensor pair, (2) dual sensor pairs on separate alarm channels, or (3) sensor pairs in-line on a single shared channel.
Once mounted and powered, the transmitter and receiver can be adjusted ±5° vertically and ±90° horizontally. Two adjustment methods:
Receiver LED signal strength: Both LEDs OFF = best signal; one LED ON = good; both LEDs ON = re-adjust needed.
Set a volt-ohm meter to 0–10VDC, insert the red probe into (+) and black into (−), then adjust horizontal and vertical angle for the highest voltage reading (8VDC is the maximum possible). Voltage output guide: 5–8V = best, 2.5–5V = good, 1.5–2.5V = fair, below 1.5V = re-adjust. Do not interrupt the beam while adjusting.
The delay time knob sets how long the beam can be interrupted before triggering the alarm (adjustable 50ms–700ms). A short interrupt time (high sensitivity) catches fast-moving intruders but is more prone to false alarms; a long interrupt time reduces false alarms but may miss fast movers. Adjust to the site's situation, then fine-tune after a walk-through test.
Note: the alarm only triggers if both the upper and lower beams are interrupted simultaneously. Test the detector periodically to confirm alignment and delay settings remain suitable for the site.
