    Installation Notes

    1. Read this manual thoroughly before beginning.
    2. Indoor use only.
    3. Depending on door/frame type, you may need optional SECO-LARM accessories: Z-brackets, L-brackets, U-brackets, and/or spacer plates.
    4. Do not run power wires and signal wires in the same conduit — this can cause interference.
    5. Do not install a diode in parallel with the lock — it may delay door release and cause residual magnetism.
    6. Best location: inside the secured door, with wiring concealed in the frame to prevent tampering.
    7. Minimum wire size: 22AWG.

    Installation Steps

    1. Fold the mounting template along the dotted line to form a 90-degree angle.
    2. Close the door and find a mounting location on the door frame near the upper free-moving corner of the door (as close as possible to the upper frame corner opposite the hinges).
    3. Use a hammer to lightly tap the two guide pins into the guide pin holes on the armature plate.
    4. Place the template against the door and frame; mark hole locations.
    5. Drill holes in the frame and door as marked (smaller holes on the door should not go all the way through).
    6. Drill hole sizes depend on door type:
      • Hollow metal door: drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole through the armature-plate side for the armature screw, then a 5/8" (16mm) hole on the opposite side for the sexnut screw.
      • Reinforced door: drill a 1/4" (6.8mm) diameter, 1" (25mm) deep hole, tapped for M8x1.25 thread.
      • Solid-core door: drill a 5/16" (8mm) hole for the armature screw, then a 1/2" (12.7mm) diameter, 1" (25mm) deep hole from the opposite side for the sexnut screw.
    7. Sandwich the rubber washer between the two metal washers and place them over the armature screw between the armature plate and armature plate holder — this lets the plate pivot to compensate for door misalignment.
    8. Tighten the armature screw enough to resist a break-in attempt, but loose enough that the plate can still pivot slightly. Make sure the anti-spin guide pins sit in the guide pin holes. Tip: use thread-locking compound on the armature screw for a long-lasting installation.
    9. Screw the two short self-tapping screws through the mounting plate's slotted holes without over-tightening, so the plate can still be adjusted until its long edge is parallel with the armature plate.
    10. Once positioned correctly, use the four long self-tapping screws to permanently mount the mounting plate.
    11. Drill the cable access hole; run wiring through the mounting plate's cable access hole and the hole in the door frame.
    12. Remove the front cover of the electromagnet and run the power leads through the large cable access hole.
    13. Push the electromagnet against the mounting plate so its ends are flush with the mounting plate's ends. Use the Allen wrench to screw the hex-head mounting screws through the bottom of the electromagnet into the mounting bracket.
    14. Cut the wires to length for the terminal block. Set the voltage using the selection jumpers: position 2 jumpers on all four pins for 12VDC (default), or a jumper on the two center pins for 24VDC.
    15. Connect power and other wires per the wiring diagram (below). Test the unit, replace the front cover, and install the hex-head tamper caps last — once installed, tamper caps are very difficult to remove.

    Note: Incorrect input voltage setting may damage the lock. Connect switching devices (e.g. push-to-exit switches) between the power source and the positive terminal — connecting to the negative terminal may cause a delay in unlocking.

    Wiring Diagram Notes

    The circuit board provides N.O./COM/N.C. bond-sensor relay contacts plus voltage jumper selection (12VDC vs 24VDC). The control device connects between the power supply (12/24 VDC) and the lock. A typical access-control wiring setup includes: outdoor keypad, indoor N/C exit button, outdoor key switch, and the maglock (fail-safe, indoor).

    Fail-safe note: A fail-safe lock automatically unlocks when power is lost — important for emergency egress (e.g. fire). All field wiring must be within the protected area.

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Solution
    Doors lock, but can easily be forced open Check that the electromagnet and armature plates are properly aligned; ensure contact surfaces are clean and rust-free; check power leads with a meter for correct 12/24VDC; confirm the rubber washer is installed and undamaged.
    Delay in door releasing The electromagnet already has a built-in MOV to prevent interference — do not add a second diode. Ensure the control device is connected between the power source and the positive terminal of the lock.
