Manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER E-931-S45RRGQ retro-reflective photoelectric beam sensor, a 45-ft range safety sensor for garage doors, gates, and industrial automation.
Manual for the SECO-LARM ENFORCER E-931-S45RRGQ Retro-Reflective Photoelectric Beam Sensor with a 45-ft (14m) range. Commonly used as a safety sensor for garage doors and gates, an entry/overhead door security sensor, or an industrial automation object detector.
Important: Conforms to UL325-2016 for gate operators that use a 10kΩ resistor for monitoring.
Caution: This sensor was not designed to prevent bodily injury or loss of life, nor for use in environments where explosive gases may be present. Use in certain security applications may be regulated by local laws — SECO-LARM is not responsible for legal compliance.
| Type | Retro-reflective |
| Sensing range | 0.5–45 ft (0.2–14 m) |
| Operating voltage | 12–30V DC/AC 60Hz, 100mA |
| Current drain (standby) | 70mA @ 12VDC |
| Current drain (active) | 55mA @ 12VDC |
| Response time | 10ms |
| Light source | IR LED |
| LED indicators | Yellow (alignment), Red (trigger) |
| Trigger output | SPDT relay (NO/NC/COM) |
| Switching capacity | 2A @ 30VAC/VDC |
| Enclosure | IP66 weatherproof |
| Operating temperature | -4~131°F (-20~55°C) |
After proper alignment, open the sensor's top cover. Starting from Max, slowly turn the sensitivity knob counter-clockwise until the red LED turns ON — this marks the weakest reliable point for the application. Turn clockwise slightly for margin; the ideal setting is the midpoint between the weakest point and Max. Close the cover securely to keep water out.
If the IR signal is too strong, the sensor may fail to trigger; too weak, and it may cause false alarms.
Note: shiny/reflective objects near the IR beam path may not be detected reliably — reduce sensitivity (turn knob counter-clockwise) if this occurs.
| Wire | Function |
|---|---|
| Brown | 12-30V DC/AC (60Hz), 100mA (non-polarized) |
| Blue | Multi-voltage circuit (non-polarized) |
| Gray | Relay Output N.C. |
| White | Relay Output COM |
| Black | Relay Output N.O. |
Maximum cable extension length: 325 ft (100m). The sensor may connect to either AC or DC voltage. If the gate motor's monitoring system requires it, connect the included 10kΩ resistor to the N.O. or N.C. output per the gate operator manufacturer's specifications. Note: the E-931-S45RRGQ will not work with gate operators that monitor via the "heartbeat" method or the N.C. method alone.
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Sensor does not detect the object | Change the sensor angle or readjust sensitivity |
| Yellow LED does not turn on | Clean sensor/reflector with a damp cloth; re-adjust alignment |
| Red LED lights on detection, but no output | No continuity between sensor and alarm device |
