    Installation manual for the SECO-LARM E-941DA series Double-Door Electromagnetic Lock — available in 600-lb (E-941DA-600Q) and 1200-lb (E-941DA-1K2Q) versions, plus LED/bond-sensor variants (E-941DA-600PQ, E-941DA-1K2P).

    Introduction

    The E-941DA series secures double doors against unauthorized entry. When powered, the electromagnets create a strong magnetic field, attracting the steel armature plates mounted on the protected doors. When deactivated, doors open/close normally with no residual magnetism.

    Installation Notes

    • Indoor use ONLY. Do not run power and signal wires in the same conduit (interference risk).
    • Do NOT install a diode in parallel with the lock — causes release delay and residual magnetism.
    • Best mounting location: inside of the secured doors, wiring concealed in the frame to prevent tampering.
    • Depending on door/frame type, you may need SECO-LARM "Z" brackets, one or two "L" brackets, and/or plate spacers.

    Installation Overview

    1. Fold the mounting template along the dotted line to form a 90° angle; with doors closed, find the mounting location centered above where both doors meet.
    2. Place the template against door and frame, mark and drill holes (4 in the frame, 6 in the door) per the template.
    3. Tap guide pins into the armature plate holes with a hammer.
    4. Drill mounting holes according to door type — Hollow Metal, Reinforced, or Solid Core (see manual for exact bit sizes per type).
    5. Sandwich a rubber washer between two metal washers on the armature screw between the armature plate and door — allows the plate to pivot and compensate for door misalignment. Tighten enough to resist forced entry but loose enough to allow slight pivot; keep anti-spin guide pins seated.
    6. Loosely mount the mounting plate with the 4 short self-tapping screws first, adjust left/right until the mounting plate and armature plate form a 90° angle, then permanently secure with the 8 long self-tapping screws.
    7. Drill cable access holes; run power leads through the mounting plate and door frame.
    8. Remove the electromagnet's front cover, run power leads through the cable access holes, then use the Allen wrench to secure the hex-head mounting screws through the mounting plate.
    9. Cut wires to length, set the voltage selection jumpers (2 jumpers over all 4 pins = 12VDC; 1 jumper over the 2 middle pins = 24VDC) — each of the two electromagnets has its own jumpers, and incorrect voltage setting can damage the lock.
    10. Connect power wires per the wiring diagram, test the unit, then replace the front cover and install the hex-head tamper caps last (very difficult to remove once installed).

    Wiring Notes

    Each door has its own circuit board — wire and jumper-program each independently. Connect switching devices (e.g. push-to-exit switches) between the power source and the positive terminal — connecting to the negative terminal can cause an unlocking delay. The bond status relay outputs N.C./COM/N.O. at 1A@24VDC.

    Troubleshooting

    Coil resistance check: Remove faceplate, disconnect wire harness from circuit board, measure resistance across Red/Green wires and Black/White wires with a meter — each coil should read 48Ω ±10%. Replace the electromagnet if either coil shows open, short, or incorrect resistance.

    Warranty

    Lifetime limited warranty (U.S./Canada; 1 year elsewhere) covering defects in material and workmanship under normal service. SECO-LARM's obligation is limited to repair or replacement of defective parts (transportation prepaid to SECO-LARM); does not cover removal/installation/reinstallation costs, acts of God, misuse, neglect, unauthorized repair/alteration, or improper installation.
