    Datasheet for the SDC EH Series Magnetic Door Holder & Releasing Device — a fail-secure electromagnetic door holder designed to hold fire/smoke barrier doors open and release them on command or power loss.

    Overview

    SDC EH Series Magnetic Door Holders are designed to hold doors open and release the door via remote switch or fire/life-safety command center activation. Their primary application is holding and releasing fire-rated doors that must act as a barrier for fire and smoke in an emergency, or offering the convenience of remote door closure. Doors are released and closed automatically upon power loss or fire/life-safety system activation.

    • Field-selectable high holding force: 75 or 110 lb
    • For self-closing fire & smoke barrier doors
    • Choice of 25, 30, 35, or 40 lb standard holding force, determined by the unit's specified voltage
    • Very low power consumption — 15mA, 20mA, or 40mA depending on model
    • Choice of 3 dual AC/DC voltage inputs: 12/24V, 24/120V, or 24/220V
    • Screw terminal block input connections — no wire nuts or pigtails needed
    • Innovative self-aligning catch plate and adjustable magnet centerline; ball-pivot assembly enables full plate contact and holding force
    • Optional adjustable rod compensates for misalignment up to 4 inches
    • Slotted mounting holes for centerline adjustment

    High holding force / special applications: model 1224 at 24V (85/81 mA) via C&L terminals delivers 75 lb (34.0 kg); model 24120 at 120V (100 mA) via C&L delivers 110 lb (49.8 kg). To achieve these values, apply the high listed voltage to the low-voltage terminals (C & L) — applicable only to models 1224 and 24120.

    Sample SKU: EH30 1224 A. Order by specifying: (1) Model — EH10/EH20/EH30/EH40/EH42; (2) Voltage — 1224 (12/24VAC/DC), 24120 (24VAC/DC/120VAC), or 24220 (24VAC/DC/220VAC); (3) Finish — A (Chrome Powder Coat) or B (Black Powder Coat).

    Accessories

    • Extension Rods (EHR02, EHR1, EHR15, EHR2, EHR3, EHR4, EHR5): provide increased reach for the armature catch plate to ensure proper alignment. Flush mount: subtract 3" from measured distance for minimum rod length. Recessed mount: subtract 2-3/8". Surface mount: subtract 4-5/8".
    • Adjustable Extension Rods (EHRA15, EHRA4): for misaligned catch plate/door holder applications.
    • EHBB Surface Back Box (2-25/32" x 4-7/8" x 1-1/2"), supplied with EH30, EH40, EH42; specify finish A or B.
    • EHDF Drilling Fixture — attaches to the door for quick, accurate hole location.
    • EHCP Catch Plate — replacement for the catch plate assembly.
    • EHW Extension Wrenches — used to tighten extension rods to the catch plate assembly.
    • EHSB Catch Plate Assembly — swivel design allows the catch disc to move in all directions to assist with slight misalignment.
