Satco Starfish App — Complete Setup & User Guide

Complete setup guide for the Satco Starfish App — covering account creation, home setup, adding devices, lighting control features, groups, automations/scenes, and voice assistant integration for Starfish WiFi Smart LED products.

System Requirements

• Minimum iOS 9.3 or Android/Wi-Fi 4.4
• Dedicated 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (Starfish devices do not support 5GHz)

Getting Started

1. Download the Starfish App.
2. Launch the app and tap "Register" (new account) or "Login" (existing account).
3. Enter your email address and tap "Get verification code".
4. Create a password and tap "Done".

Create a Home

1. Tap the "Me" button at the bottom of the screen, then "Home Management".
2. Tap "Create a home" and follow the setup prompts.

Share a Home

1. From Home Management, select the home you'd like to share.
2. Tap "Add Member" and choose how to send the invitation.
3. Enter the new member's information and set their role as "Administrator" or "Common Member".
4. Tap "Save" to send the invitation.

Adding Devices

1. Ensure your phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. If connecting a BLE-enabled device, turn Bluetooth on.
2. Tap the (+) button in the top right corner, then select "Add Device".
3. Ensure the Starfish device is installed and powered on. Put it into pairing mode by turning it off and on 5 times, waiting about 3 seconds between each switch. For strings, strips, switches, plugs, or controllers, instead hold the power button for approximately 10 seconds until the indicator blinks.
4. Select the device type to connect. If a BLE-enabled device is detected nearby, a pop-up will list unpaired devices — tap "Add" and select the ones you want to connect.
5. Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network name and password, then tap "Next".
6. Confirm the device is blinking quickly (indicating pairing mode) and tap "Next" to view the pairing status screen.
7. Rename the device by tapping the pen icon, entering a new name, and tapping "Completed". The device is now ready to control.

If devices aren't flashing/blinking, turn them off and on 5 times to re-enter pairing mode. If pairing is unsuccessful, check the FAQs at Satco.com/Starfish.

Important: Starfish products cannot be used with an in-wall dimmer — only a standard ON/OFF switch. All dimming must be done through the Starfish app/devices.

Core Features

• Individual Bulb On/Off: tap the power button on the device tile to toggle it.
• Individual Bulb Settings: tap the device icon for additional feature controls.
• Dimming: slide the dimming bar left/right to set brightness.
• Tunable White: tap the color wheel or a preset to adjust color temperature from warm to cool; slide the dimming bar to set brightness.
• Color Changing (RGB): tap the color wheel or a preset color; use the slide bars to adjust brightness and saturation.
• Effects: select a preset lighting effect, or create a custom one via the edit button. Some devices support a "Music" effect that changes color based on ambient sound picked up by the phone's microphone.
• Timer: from the device control panel, tap the Timer button to set a countdown and confirm to start.
• Schedule: tap "Schedule", select an event time, optionally tap "Repeat" and choose days of the week, and select whether the device should turn on or off.
• Advanced Settings: tap the pen icon in device settings for additional configuration options.

Groups

1. From the Home screen, tap (+) and select "Create Group" (requires at least 2 devices).
2. Select the device type to group.
3. Select the devices to include and tap "Confirm".
4. Enter a group name and tap "Save".

Edit Groups: tap the pen icon in the top right corner to rename the group or remove a device, then tap "Confirm".

Automations & Scenes

1. From the Home screen, tap (+) and select "Create Scene" or "Create Automation".
2. For automations, assign a "Condition": Automate by Weather, Automate by Schedule, or Automate by Device Status.
3. Select your "Action" — a previously created scene, a device, or a group to control.
4. Select the devices or groups to control, then choose Turn On/Off and set color/brightness as applicable.
5. Tap "Next", review the automation or scene, then "Save" to activate it.

Voice Assistant Integration

Amazon Alexa

1. Open the Alexa app menu, tap "Skills & Games", search "Satco Starfish", and select it.
2. Tap "Enable to Use", then log in with your Starfish App username and password and tap "Link Now".
3. Tap "Authorize" to link your account, then "Done".
4. Tap "Discover Devices" — Alexa will detect your Starfish devices, which can then be controlled via the Alexa app or an Alexa device.

Google Home

1. Open the Google Home App, tap "Set up device", then "Have something already set up?".
2. Search for "Satco Starfish", select the location, and log in with your Starfish username/password.
3. Tap "Link Now" — devices can then be controlled via Google Home or a Google device.

Samsung SmartThings

1. Open the SmartThings app, access the menu, tap "Devices" then "Add new device".
2. Select "Satco Starfish" from the "By brand" list and choose a location.
3. Log in with your Starfish username/password and tap "Link Now", then "Authorize" and "Done".

Siri Shortcuts

1. From the Home screen's "Smart" tab, make sure you've already created a custom scene.
2. Tap "Add to Siri", select the scene to add.
3. Review the shortcut and tap "Save Shortcut" to activate the scene via Siri.

Common Voice Commands

• "Turn on [Device Name]" / "Turn off [Device Name]"
• "[Device Name] to 50%"
• "Turn [Group Name] off"
• "Turn [Device Name] to soft white" (Tunable White devices only)
• "Turn [Device Name] to Blue" (RGB devices only)
• "Make [Device Name] warmer" / "Make [Device Name] cooler"

Device names as recognized by Alexa/Google may differ slightly — confirm names in your Amazon or Google app.
