RISCO ZODIAC PET (RK410PT) — Pet-Immune PIR Detector Installation Instructions

Installation instructions for the RISCO ZODIAC PET (RK410PT) — a pet-immune residential PIR motion detector with custom lens and advanced electronics, providing full immunity for pets up to 70lb (33kg) and high catch performance for residential installations.

General Description

The ZODIAC PET with custom lens and advanced electronics is specially designed to give full pet immunity (up to a 70lb/33kg dog, 4 cats, or multiple rodents) and high catch performance for residential installations.

The ZODIAC PRO family also includes:

• ZODIAC PRO: Residential PIR with excellent catch performance and false alarm rejection.
• ZODIAC QUAD: A real Quad residential PIR for higher false alarm immunity and catch performance in hostile environments.

Mounting Locations

Primary considerations: Do not mount the unit in direct sunlight or near heat sources. For optional pet immunity, installation height should be between 2.1m-2.4m (7'-8'). Note: detection is only effective beyond 2 meters.

Installation

1. Open the cover.
2. Remove knockouts for mounting screws (MS) and cable entry (CE).
3. Insert the cable and attach the base to the mounting location.

Pet Immunity Guidelines

To optimize pet immunity, follow these guidelines:

• Mount the detector vertically, at right angles to the floor.
• Mount the detector at a height of 2.1m-2.4m (7'-8').
• Make sure an animal cannot get above a height of 1.5m (5') by jumping on furniture or shelving.
• Do not mount the unit opposite stairways where animals have access.

Note: The PCB should be properly aligned opposite the pet scale marking on the board.

Terminal Connections

Seal any unused knockout holes after wiring.

Jumper Settings

Set the pulse count jumper to the position corresponding to the desired pulse count (Pulse Count 1, 2, or 3 — see the "PULSE" jumper block on the PCB near the "PET" marking).

Walk Test

1. Replace the front cover.
2. Apply power and wait until stabilized (more than 2 minutes).
3. Walk through the protected area.
4. Observe the LED, including checking immunity to any pets present.

Warning: This product should be tested at least once a week.

Specifications

Notes for UL

1. The detector is intended to be connected to a listed burglar alarm control unit capable of providing 4 hours of standby power.
2. Pet immunity is not verified by UL.
3. The detector needs to be tested at least yearly by the installer.

Caution: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.

Warranty

RISCO Group and its subsidiaries and affiliates ("Seller") warrant its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for 2 years from the date of production. Because Seller does not install or connect the product, and the product may be used with products not manufactured by Seller, Seller cannot guarantee the performance of a security system using this product. Seller's obligation and liability under this warranty is expressly limited to repairing or replacing, at Seller's option, within a reasonable time after delivery, any product not meeting specifications. Seller makes no other warranty, expressed or implied, including no warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

In no case shall Seller be liable for any consequential or incidental damages for breach of this or any other warranty, or upon any other basis of liability. Seller's obligation under this warranty does not include transportation charges, installation costs, or liability for direct, indirect, or consequential damages or delay.

Seller does not represent that its product cannot be compromised or circumvented, that it will prevent personal injury or property loss by burglary, robbery, fire, or otherwise, or that it will in all cases provide adequate warning or protection. The buyer understands that a properly installed and maintained alarm may only reduce the risk of burglary, robbery, or fire without warning, but is not insurance or a guarantee against occurrence or against personal injury or property loss. Consequently, Seller has no liability for personal injury, property damage, or loss based on a claim that the product fails to give warning. If Seller is nonetheless held liable for any loss or damage arising under this warranty or otherwise, Seller's maximum liability shall not exceed the purchase price of the product, which is the complete and exclusive remedy against Seller. No employee or representative of Seller is authorized to change this warranty or grant any other warranty.
