Adding the Range Extender to a Z-Wave Network

The Ring Range Extender can be added via Smart Start inclusion or Classic inclusion mode.

    Smart Start Inclusion Steps

    1. Initiate the "Add Range Extender" flow in the Ring Alarm mobile app and follow the guided instructions.
    2. Scan the QR code found on the device package, or on the back of the range extender itself.
    3. Plug the range extender into line power.
    4. When inclusion is complete, the LED on the range extender will turn solid blue, then go out.

    Classic Inclusion Steps

    1. Initiate the "Add Range Extender" flow in the Ring Alarm mobile app.
    2. Select "Add Manually" and enter the 5-digit DSK PIN found on the device package (or scan the QR code on the back of the range extender).
    3. Plug the range extender into line power.
    4. Press and hold the push button for three seconds, then release.
    5. When inclusion is complete, the LED will turn solid blue, then go out.

Removing the Range Extender from a Z-Wave Network (Exclusion)

    1. In the Ring Alarm app, go to the device details page, select the settings icon, and choose "Remove Device".
    2. Press and hold the push button for three seconds.
    3. When exclusion is complete, the LED will turn solid blue, then go out.

    Lifeline Association

The Range Extender uses Group 1 as its "Lifeline" group, which can hold up to five devices. The Range Extender repeats all signals it receives to this group, and also sends the group Battery Reports, Power Management notifications, and a Device Reset Locally notification when it removes itself from the Z-Wave network.

    Factory Reset

Use this procedure only if the network's primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable:

    1. Press and hold the push button.
    2. The blue LED will start blinking rapidly.
    3. Wait for the blue LED to stop blinking, then release the push button.
