Complete instruction manual for the A&D Digital Blood Pressure Monitor, Model UA-767PBT-C — a Continua-certified, Bluetooth-enabled arm cuff monitor.

Precautions

• This device conforms to European Directive 93/42 EEC for Medical Products and complies with FCC Part 15 (FCC ID: POOWML-C40) and Industry Canada (IC: 4250A-WMLC40).
• It is a Continua-certified, Bluetooth wireless technology-enabled medical device, designed for use on adults only (not newborns or infants), for indoor use.
• Avoid extreme temperature, humidity, direct sunlight, shock, or dust. Clean with a soft, dry cloth only — never thinner, alcohol, benzine, or a wet cloth.
• Do not tightly fold the cuff or store the hose tightly twisted, as this may shorten component life.
• The device and cuff are not water resistant; keep away from rain, sweat, and water.
• Measurements may be distorted near televisions, microwave ovens, cell phones, X-ray equipment, or other strong electrical fields.
• Dispose of used equipment, parts, and batteries per local regulations — not as ordinary household waste.

Setup

Installing / Changing the Batteries

1. Slide the battery cover up to open it.
2. Remove used batteries and insert new ones, matching the polarity markings. Use only LR6, R6P, or AA batteries.
3. Slide the battery cover down to close.

Caution: Insert batteries correctly or the device will not work. Do not mix old and new batteries. Remove batteries if the device won't be used for a long time, as they may leak.

Connecting the Air Hose

Insert the air connector plug firmly into the air socket.

Pairing the PBT-C Device with a Continua-Compliant Manager

Model UA-767PBT-C is a PBT-C series device designed to connect only with Continua Managers.

1. Remove the four batteries from the device.
2. Press the START button several times to fully discharge the device.
3. Insert the four batteries into the device.
4. Refer to the Manager's instruction manual to start a Bluetooth discovery/inquiry process. The device stays discoverable for 60 seconds. If pairing fails, repeat steps 1–3.
5. Once discovered, enter PIN 123456 to complete pairing (not required if the Manager supports Secure Simple Pairing).

Attaching the Arm Cuff

• Wrap the cuff around the upper arm, about 2–3 cm above the inside of the elbow. Place the cuff directly against the skin — clothing may cause a faint pulse and measurement error.
• Rolling up a shirtsleeve can constrict the upper arm and prevent accurate readings.
• Confirm the index mark falls within the proper fit range.

How to Take Proper Measurements

• Sit comfortably at a table; rest your arm on the table.
• Relax for 5–10 minutes before measuring.
• Place the center of the cuff at the same height as your heart.
• Remain still and quiet during measurement — it is normal for the cuff to feel very tight.
• Do not measure right after exercise or a bath; rest 20–30 minutes first.
• Measure at the same time every day for consistency.

Normal Measurement

1. Place the cuff on the arm (preferably the left arm) and sit quietly.
2. Press the START button. The device inflates the cuff automatically. Press START again at any time to stop inflation.
3. Deflation starts automatically; the heart mark blinks with each detected pulse beat during measurement.
4. When complete, systolic/diastolic pressure and pulse rate are displayed, and the cuff exhausts remaining air automatically.
5. Press START again to turn off power. Allow at least 10 minutes between measurements on the same person (the device also has an automatic ~1 minute power shut-off).

Measurement With a Desired Systolic Pressure

If your systolic pressure is expected to exceed 230 mmHg, or you use the optional small cuff:

1. Place the cuff on the arm.
2. Press and hold START until a number 30–40 mmHg higher than your expected systolic pressure appears.
3. Release START at the desired number to begin measurement, then proceed as with a normal measurement.

What Is an Irregular Heartbeat?

The UA-767PBT-C still provides a blood pressure and pulse reading even when an irregular heartbeat occurs. An irregular heartbeat is defined as one that varies by 25% from the average of all heartbeats during measurement. Remain relaxed, still, and silent during measurement. Contact your physician if this indicator appears frequently.

Transmitting Data to a Continua Manager

Measurement results transmit automatically to the paired Manager after each reading. If transmission fails, the device stores up to the last 25 measurements in memory and sends all stored data at the next successful connection, then clears memory.

About Blood Pressure

• What is blood pressure? The force exerted by blood against artery walls. Systolic occurs when the heart contracts; diastolic when it expands, measured in mmHg.
• Hypertension (abnormally high arterial pressure) can be controlled by not smoking, reducing salt/fat intake, maintaining proper weight, exercising regularly, and regular physical checkups — alongside medication under a doctor's supervision.
• Why measure at home? Clinic readings can run 25–30 mmHg higher due to apprehension ("white coat" effect). Home measurement provides a more accurate, complete blood pressure history.
• Blood pressure varies by 30–50 mmHg throughout the day depending on activity; it typically rises during work/play and falls to its lowest during sleep. Take measurements at the same time daily to establish your normal range.

Maintenance

Do not open the device — it contains delicate electrical components and an intricate air unit. European customers: routine inspection every 2 years is recommended for regulatory compliance; not required for non-European customers. Contact your authorized dealer or A&D for maintenance.
