Installation and Owner's Guide for PulseWorx Relay Dimming™ WS Wall Switch and RWS Remote Wall Switch (models WS-120V, WS-277V, RWS) — 0-10V relay dimming controls for LED fixtures, including wiring diagrams, configuration options, and specifications.

    Overview

The WS Wall Switch is a high-quality dimmer designed to control LED fixtures equipped with 0-10V drivers connected to RM-0-10V receiving modules. The optional RWS Remote Wall Switch is a low-cost companion device with a Decora-style rocker that controls the WS exactly like its local rocker — enabling 3-, 4-, or 5-way multi-way circuits so multiple switches can control the same lights.

This switch is intended for indoor use only, for controlling LED fixtures with Relay Dimming 0-10V receiving modules. Connect only copper or copper-clad wire.

    Important Pre-Installation Notes

    • The WS Wall Switch requires a neutral (white) connection wire.
    • Disconnect all power to the load at the circuit breaker before installing — installing with power on may expose you to dangerous voltage and damage the device.
    • Installation should follow the National Electrical Code and local regulations; a qualified electrician is recommended.

    RWS Remote Wall Switch Wiring

    • Black (Line): connects to AC line — may be either phase of a 120/240V supply, or any phase of a 3-phase supply.
    • Gray (Neutral for LED): can connect to either earth ground or neutral; only lights the RWS's blue LED (a night-light indicator, not a status indicator).
    • Yellow (Control wire to WS): the signal wire back to the WS Wall Switch.
    • Top Rocker = On/Bright; Bottom Rocker = Off/Dim.

If an occupancy sensor is not used, the Blue wire on the WS switch must connect to Line.

    Basic Wiring (No Occupancy Sensor)

WS Wall Switch: Blue wire to Line In (Black); Neutral (White) to neutral. The WS outputs 0-10VDC+ (purple) and 0-10VDC− (gray) to an RM-0-10V control module installed in each LED fixture, which in turn feeds the fixture's 0-10V LED driver. An optional 3-way slave connects via the yellow wire and Load (Red) terminal.

    Wiring With an Occupancy Sensor

Same overall topology, but Line In passes first through the occupancy sensor before reaching the WS Wall Switch's Load In; the WS then drives the RM-0-10V module(s) and LED fixture(s) as above.

    RM-0-10V Receiving Module

    • Black: Line In
    • White: Neutral
    • Purple: 0-10V (+)
    • Gray: 0-10V (−)

The RM-0-10V has no address or identifying information — any module works in any fixture with no programming needed. Install one RM-0-10V per fixture if the switch controls multiple fixtures. You may hear the wall switch's relay clicking rapidly during operation — this is the communication signal to the RM-0-10V and is expected, normal behavior.

    Installation Procedure

    1. Remove the faceplate from the existing wall switch.
    2. Unscrew and pull the existing switch out of the wall box.
    3. Disconnect the wires, identifying Line, Neutral, Load, and Traveler.
    4. Install the WS Wall Switch per the wiring diagrams (with or without occupancy sensor).
    5. Confirm the BLUE wire is connected to LINE if no occupancy sensor is used — it powers the relay, which then feeds the load out through the RED wire.
    6. Optionally install any RWS Remote Wall Switch(es) per their wiring diagram.
    7. Verify all wire connectors are firmly attached with no exposed copper.
    8. Place the wires and switch into the wall box (LED at the top of the device) and screw in place.
    9. Test for proper local operation, then install the faceplate cover(s).

Local Rocker Switch Operation (Factory Default)

Rocker Event Top Rocker Bottom Rocker
Single-Tap Turns on / brightens to last level (or max if already on) Turns the fixture off
Double-Tap Sets light to 40% Sets light to 10%
Hold Starts brightening toward 100% Starts dimming toward 0%
    Release Stops brightening Stops dimming

    Configuration Mode

    • Enter: turn the fixture on to any level, then quickly tap the top rocker 10 times. The status LED blinks red rapidly to confirm.
    • Exit: single-tap the top rocker; the LED stops blinking red.
    • Set top rocker double-tap level: in config mode, press-and-hold (not tap) either rocker to adjust the level, then double-tap the top rocker to save, then exit.
    • Set bottom rocker double-tap level: same process, but double-tap the bottom rocker to save.
    • Enable 2-hour auto shut-off: in config mode, 4-tap the top rocker (load turns off automatically after 2 hours), then exit.
    • Disable 2-hour auto shut-off: in config mode, 4-tap the bottom rocker, then exit.
    • Factory reset: in config mode, 10-tap either rocker again to restore all defaults.

Advanced configuration options beyond the above can be programmed via a UPB Setup Tool.
