User instructions for the Platinum Tools ToneMaster Tone Generator (TG210/TG220), covering tone tracing, phone line status checking, continuity testing, and talk-battery power testing.
The Platinum Tools ToneMaster™ Tone Generator (TG210/TG220) is a handheld tool for tracing, testing continuity on, and checking the status of telephone and low-voltage wiring. It sends an audible tone through wiring that a compatible tone tracer/probe can detect, and it also functions as a phone line status checker, continuity tester, and talk-battery power source for testing dry (unpowered) phone lines.
⚠ Warning: Do not attach to live AC circuits — this can cause an extreme shock hazard and damage the tone generator. Always set the tone generator to STATUS mode before connecting to any circuit.
Use only on dark (unpowered) circuits — electrical power present may damage the tone generator or cause erroneous results.
With HIGH-POWERED mode on, the tone is strong enough to light both status LEDs; the green NRM LED goes out when continuity is found and the red LED brightens.
