    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation guide and owner's manual for the PCS PulseWorx RM1-15 UPB Receptacle Module — a remote-controlled 15A receptacle for non-dimming appliances.

    Overview

The RM1 is ideal for remotely controlling one or more 120VAC non-dimming appliances with a maximum rating of 15 amps. It replaces any standard wall outlet — the top outlet is controlled while the lower outlet remains always powered for vacuums, computers, and other devices that don't need remote control. UPB controllers and modules can be located anywhere in the home; no additional wiring or RF signals are required.

Typical uses: pumps, fans, low-voltage landscape transformers, coffee makers, and holiday lights.

    Safety Instructions

    • Keep away from water — if the product contacts water or other liquid, turn off the circuit breaker and unplug immediately.
    • Never use products that have been dropped or damaged.
    • Do not use outdoors or for purposes other than its intended use.
    • Do not connect multiple appliances that combined exceed the product's maximum load rating.
    • Install out of the reach of small children; do not cover the product while in use.
    • This product uses grounded plugs/sockets to reduce shock risk — if they don't fit, consult an electrician.

    Installation

    1. Disable circuit supplying power to the outlet at the breaker or fuse panel.
    2. Remove the existing wall plate and outlet.
    3. Label wires connected to the existing device, then disconnect it.
    4. Strip wires to ½" of bare wire.
    5. Install the device per the wiring diagram on the unit.
    6. Torque terminal screws to 12–14 in-lbs.
    7. Mount the receptacle into the wall box, attach the wall plate, and restore power.
    8. Plug the controlled device into the top socket (current rating must not exceed 15A) and turn its power switch ON.

A second device can be plugged into the bottom outlet, which is always powered. Caution: do not insert metal objects into the module while connected to power.

    Configuration

The RM1 can be configured manually or with UPStart Setup Software. Refer to your Keypad Controller's Manual Configuration Guide (available on the PCS website) for adding the RM1 to a UPB network and linking it to Keypad devices. While factory defaults work well out of the box, programming with a Powerline Interface Module (PIM) and UPStart Configuration Software unlocks the RM1's full feature set.

    SETUP Mode

Press the Program Button (in the top outlet's ground hole) five times rapidly using a non-metallic toothpick. The Status LED (bottom outlet ground hole) blinks Blue continuously while in SETUP mode. Exit by pressing the Program Button once, or wait 5 minutes for timeout.

    TEST Mode

Press and hold the Program Button for 3 seconds — the Status LED blinks Magenta. While in TEST mode, single-tap the Program Button to toggle the appliance ON/OFF. Press and hold again for 3 seconds to exit.

    Auto-Off Timer

The programmable Auto-Off Timer can set a maximum "on time" of up to 240 minutes; if the appliance isn't turned off manually, the module will do so automatically. The RM1 can also notify the network when the appliance turns off, allowing it to control other devices or update Keypad indicator LEDs.

    Factory Default Reset

Enter SETUP mode, then press the Program Button 10 times rapidly. The Status LED blinks red to confirm defaults have been restored. Press the Program Button twice more to stop the blinking.

    Operation

The Receptacle Module operates according to commands sent by one or more UPB controllers — PulseWorx Keypad Controllers, Timed Event Controllers, Wall Switches, Interface Modules, approved Third-Party Controllers, and touch screens. The RM1 can belong to up to 16 scenes, each with a stored relay state (on, off, or blink).
