    Specification sheet for the Optex VX Shield Series (VXS) — a range of four outdoor PIR and dual-tech (PIR + microwave) detectors providing 40ft by 90° wide-angle detection coverage, ideal for residential and small commercial sites.

    Overview

    The VX Shield series offers 90° wide-angle outdoor detection with a versatile, weatherproof design (IP55). The lineup includes two PIR-only models and two PIR/microwave dual-tech models, each available in wired or battery-operated versions:

    • VXS-AM — wired PIR detector with anti-masking
    • VXS-RAM / VXS-RAMi — battery-operated PIR detector with anti-masking
    • VXS-DAM — wired PIR + microwave (dual-tech) detector with anti-masking
    • VXS-RDAM / VXS-RDAMi — battery-operated PIR + microwave (dual-tech) detector with anti-masking

    Key Features

    • Digital Triple Layer Detection with SMDA logic — both upper/lower PIR detection areas and the MW detection area must simultaneously be crossed to generate an alarm on dual-tech models. A digitally-enhanced Super Multidimensional Analysis (SMDA) signal recognition logic improves immunity to climate changes, vegetation sway, and other nuisance factors, virtually eliminating false alarms from small animals.
    • Active IR anti-masking — detects covering objects on the lens surface (AM/RAM models)
    • 90° wide angle detection — 12m (40ft) coverage, 16 zones, with 5 adjustable PIR distance levels (2.5 to 12m)
    • Automatic walk test mode — starts automatically when closing the cover; expires after 3 minutes
    • 5 pre-cut area masking seals included for custom detection zone shaping
    • 90° rotation lock for easy cover open/close; level indicator for easy alignment even with uneven ground
    • Robust, weatherproof ASA housing (IP55, UV resistant)
