    Install and setup manual for the OPTEX InSight Series Visual Verification PIR Camera — an IP camera integrated with an OPTEX PIR motion detector, providing image verification of detected motion alongside standard security-camera video features.

    Initial Network Setup

    1. Download the IP Installer utility from OPTEX (links are model-specific — see the label on your camera/detector for the correct firmware page).
    2. Run IP Installer, select your Network Adapter (NIC), then click Search (~5 seconds) to locate the camera on your network.
    3. Select the camera from the results list — its info appears under Device Info.
    4. Choose the network type: DHCP (default) automatically assigns an IP if you have a DHCP server, or STATIC if you don't — in which case the camera uses the IP printed on its label/box after about one minute (you may need to change your PC's IP to match in order to reach it).
    5. For STATIC setups, enter the TCP/IP details: default IP is on the label, Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0, Gateway 192.168.0.1, DNS 168.126.63.1.
    6. If accessing the camera externally, configure Port Forwarding on your router — consult your router's manual. HTTPS/RTSP ports can be adjusted later from Web Viewer → Setup.
    7. Enter the camera's ID/PW for authentication — change the default (root / OPTEX) immediately for security. Defaults are restored on any factory reset.
    8. Click Save; a confirmation "Apply" message appears if settings applied correctly.
    9. Reboot or factory-reset (excluding network settings) via IP Installer by selecting the camera(s), entering ID/PW, and clicking the appropriate button.

    Accessing the Camera

    • Open Chrome and enter the camera's IP address (e.g. http://192.168.0.200:8888) — if the Web Port is left at 80, you don't need to specify a port.
    • Install VLC to display live video if prompted — this camera uses the VLC plug-in rather than Active-X.
    • If TCP port 80 is blocked by your ISP, use a value between 1025 and 60000 instead.

    Setup Menu Structure

    The Web Viewer's Setup page is organized into these sections (with sub-items):

    • Video Setup — image/stream configuration
    • Camera Setup — camera-specific parameters
    • Network Setup — TCP/IP, port forwarding, DDNS
    • Event Setup — Camera Scene Change, Temperature, ONVIF Events
    • PIR Detector — Detector N.O./N.C. Setting, PIR Area Viewer
    • Security Setup — IP Address Filter, RTSP Authentication, IEEE 802.1X, HTTPS, Certificate
    • System Setup — System Information/Diagnostics, Firmware Update, Date & Time, DST, User Management, Log, Language, Factory Reset, Restart, Open Source licenses, Plug-in, License

    Event Setup Highlights

    • Camera Scene Change: enable TCP and/or HTTP event notifications when the camera detects a scene change.
    • Temperature: select Fahrenheit or Celsius, set a threshold value, and view the camera's current reported temperature; an event triggers when the threshold is crossed.
    • ONVIF Events: the camera reports a "MotionAlarm" ONVIF event (and a "Sensor01" DigitalInput, always on) when the PIR detector signals an alarm, and a "MotionAlarm" event (with "Sensor03" DigitalInput, always on) when camera tampering is detected.

    PIR Detector Integration

    • Detector N.O./N.C. Setting: select the input device type — N.O. (contact normally open, closes when activated) or N.C. (contact normally closed, opens when activated).
    • PIR Area Viewer: displays the detection area overlay; set the camera-angle adjustment to match the angle memory of the connected PIR sensor. Displayed content varies by model (e.g. INS-QXI-ST).

    Security Setup

    • IP Address Filter: enable/disable filtering, choose the filter type (allow/deny), and add or remove specific IP addresses from the filter list.
    • RTSP Authentication, IEEE 802.1X, HTTPS, and Certificate management are available for securing streaming access and network authentication (see full manual for detailed steps per feature).

    User Management

    • Add a new user with an ID (4-30 characters) and password, assigning the Operator or Viewer authority level (both roles are monitoring-only).
    • Password strength is rated Weak (8 characters or fewer, fewer than 2 character-type combinations), Good (8+ characters, 3+ combinations), or Strong (12+ characters, 4 combinations) — using uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters (acceptable set: ~ ' ! & ^ ( ) _ - | { } ; . ? /).
    • The Admin account's password can be modified but the account itself cannot be deleted; other user accounts can be fully deleted.

    System Setup Highlights

    • System Log: filter by date, time, sort order, or type; refresh, filter, or back up the log.
    • Language: select the Web Viewer's display language.
    • Factory Reset options: reset All settings, reset everything Except Network and User Settings, or reset Only Camera Settings.
    • Restart: reboots the camera after an on-screen confirmation.
    • Open Source / Plug-in / License: lists bundled open-source components and installed plug-ins — do not uninstall plug-ins, as this can break camera functionality.

    Network Environment Reference

    Before configuring the camera on-site, gather your ISP-assigned network details (IP address, subnet mask, gateway, primary/secondary DNS) and determine whether your ISP address is Static or Dynamic. Two common setups are covered in the full manual:

    • Case A — Dynamic IP + Personal Router (most common home/small-office): configure the camera with a STATIC private IP (e.g. 192.168.0.200) even though your ISP address is dynamic, matching subnet mask and gateway to your router.
    • Case B — Static (Fixed) IP + Personal Router: similarly assign a private static IP to the camera behind the router, using your router's LAN-side IP as the gateway.

    If prompted for ID and Password on initial network configuration, the default is admin / admin; the default web port is 80 — if blocked by your ISP, use a port between 1025 and 60000.
