Installation instructions for the OEM Systems Registered Bass RB-12SW (single voice coil) and RB-12SWD (dual voice coil) In-Floor Subwoofer.

    Overview

The Registered Bass 12" In-Floor Subwoofer is designed to mount in standard frame-construction floors, and with proper preparation can also be mounted in ceilings. Its space-saving design allows the enclosure to be installed from above the floor (or below the ceiling) — once the wire is run, installation is completed entirely from within the living space, not from under the floor or above the ceiling.

Because the unit's widest dimension is only 14-1/4", it can be positioned either way between 16"-on-center joists, matching your room layout regardless of which direction the floor joists run.

    Installation Notes

    • Use a standard 6" x 14" register vent (diffuser) to cover/trim the flange opening — no diffuser is included with the unit.
    • Choose a standard-size diffuser matching the home's other forced-air diffusers; look for tightly-constructed diffusers, and if it has adjustable louvers, make sure they can be removed (otherwise they'll resonate).
    • Foam stripping is included to place between the mounting flange and the diffuser for a positive fit.
    • For best results, use #8 x 2" oval head Phillips screws with #6 head, quantity 10.
