  • OEM Systems Kevlar Series — In-Wall & In-Ceiling Speaker Catalog

    September 08, 2026 3 min read

Full product catalog for OEM Systems' Kevlar Series in-wall and in-ceiling loudspeakers, featuring Kevlar woofers, Phase Plug technology, and pivoting soft-dome tweeters.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Product catalog and technical datasheet for the OEM Systems Kevlar Series loudspeakers — a line of in-wall and in-ceiling speakers built with black Kevlar woofers, pivoting textile soft-dome tweeters, and clamp-ring mounting systems.

    About Kevlar Drivers

Kevlar was developed by DuPont research scientists Stephanie Kwolek and Herbert Blades in 1965 — a fibrous material 5 times stronger than steel of the same weight, later adopted for loudspeaker cones, protective apparel, automotive parts, and more. In these woofers, Kevlar's strength helps the cone retain its shape at very high energy levels while its low mass ensures quick, accurate response. The woven surface delivers smooth, uncolored mids, and the kapton voice coil former with butyl rubber surround are designed for years of consistent, reliable performance.

    Pivoting Textile Soft Dome Tweeters

The textile soft dome most consistently delivers natural, uncolored high-frequency audio. Ferro Fluid lubricates and cools the voice coil, enabling high power handling. The pivoting feature allows high-frequency audio to be directed toward the main listening area, producing a seamless, transparent sound stage.

    Phase Plug Technology

In a conventional speaker, higher frequencies emanate from the center of the cone while lower frequencies are produced further out — larger cones are generally capable of more bass. Due to the cone's shape, higher-frequency sound waves tend to collide at a focal point, causing phase distortion and efficiency loss. The phase plug pole piece extension improves driver performance and clarity by deflecting mid-range audio outward, minimizing distortion-producing collisions.

    Construction Features

    • Clamp-Ring Mounting — Rectangular in-wall models use a clamp-ring mounting system that distributes clamping force over a larger surface area, reducing pressure on sheetrock while increasing mounting strength. The mounting ring comes pre-assembled to the speaker frame, reducing installation time.
    • IR Receiver Knockouts — 6½" and 8" rectangular in-wall speakers feature a mounting provision for a remote control signal receiver behind the grille, allowing discrete integration with an infrared receiver/repeater system that works with standard IR remotes to control your system from any equipped room.
