  • OEM Systems C-10SW & MB-C10 — In-Ceiling Subwoofer Installation Guide

    September 08, 2026 2 min read

Installation guide for the OEM Systems C-10SW 10" in-ceiling subwoofer and matching MB-C10 mounting bracket.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation guide for the OEM Systems C-10SW round in-ceiling subwoofer and its companion MB-C10 mounting bracket — a two-piece system designed to mount directly to 16" or 24" on-center ceiling joists and trusses for a properly supported, resonance-free installation.

    Overview

The MB-C10 combination mounting/pre-construction bracket and the C-10SW 10" woofer assembly are packaged and sold separately, but designed to work as a matched pair. The integrated system weighs approximately 11 lbs — too heavy to hang unsupported in sheetrock, especially given the excursions of the long-throw 10" woofer. For safety, the entire assembly mounts directly to the structure's framing members, reinforcing the sheetrock by unitizing it with the assembly and the framing.

Primarily designed for new construction, the system can also be retro-fitted into existing construction if access to the "other side" of the ceiling can be gained — the structural mounting bracket may be installed from above the sheetrock.

    Cut-Out Dimensions

Model Overall Cut-Out (Round x Depth)
    C-10SW 12-7/8" round 11-1/2" x 4-5/8"

    Installing the MB-C10 Bracket

The MB-C10 consists of five separate pieces and two types of screws: two pairs of steel mounting rails (one pair 14.5" long for 16" OC framing, one pair 22.5" long for 24" OC framing).

    1. Fasten the mounting rails to the framing members with the supplied screws.
    2. Mount the white plastic bracket to the rails using the shorter screws, in the middle position, and tighten.
    3. Position the assembly between the rafters and fasten with the longer screws, ensuring the room-side of the rails is flush with the rafters.
    4. With rails fastened and spaced, adjust the mounting bracket's position along the rails as needed. 24" OC framing gives considerable adjustment room; 16" OC framing provides little.
    5. Leave the white film covering the mounting opening in place until ready to install the C-10SW.

    Installing the C-10SW Subwoofer

    1. Remove the grille with the included Grille Removal Tool. Cut the white film out of the mounting bracket with a utility knife.
    2. Connect the speaker wires, then lift the C-10SW into the ceiling using the black steel installation handle.

CAUTION: The installation handle MUST be removed before the sub is activated.

    3. Align the speaker frame with the mounting bracket using the built-in alignment guides.
    4. Attach the speaker to the mounting bracket with the four included black screws.
    5. Remove the installation handle by loosening its two screws and turning it so the screw heads pass through the keyhole openings, then re-tighten the two screws that held the handle in place.
    6. Attach the grille with its spun cellulose insert — the white insert goes between the driver and the grille to improve appearance.
