NuTone Overture Smart Plug (BIAQSP100P) — Installation Instructions

Installation instructions for the Broan-NuTone Overture™ Smart Plug (part no. 1103436) — a Wi-Fi-connected smart control for HRV/ERV/Make-Up Air Damper systems and supply fans, used with the Broan-NuTone Overture app.

Safety Warnings

• Before installing, switch power off at the service panel and lock the disconnecting means to prevent accidental power-on. If it can't be locked, attach a prominent warning tag.
• All electrical work must comply with local codes and the National Electrical Code, including fire-rated construction codes. This product MUST be grounded.
• Use copper wire only.
• Do not wire hot — risk of serious injury from electrical shock.
• Install only in a UL Listed NEMA 5-15R or 5-20R receptacle, easily accessible. Do not use with a wall-switch-controlled receptacle.
• Enclosure protection rating: IP20. Not intended for unheated warehouses, garages, or similar cold locations.
• Avoid water and wet locations.
• Do not attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device — risk of shock and voided warranty.
• Warranty is void if miswired.

HRV/ERV/Make-Up Air Damper Installation

1. Turn off power and lock out the service panel before wiring the control to your Fresh Air System.
2. Verify Smart Plug orientation before installation — note the "TOP" direction shown on the Smart Plug label.
3. Location notes: Place the Smart Plug within range of your Wi-Fi router or access point (approximately 100 feet); avoid physical obstructions and radio interference.
4. Make electrical connections following the wiring diagrams below or in the Broan-NuTone Overture App. Use wire nuts, and ensure both the Smart Plug and the Fresh Air System are properly grounded. Wire terminals accept #20 AWG to #16 AWG solid or stranded wire rated for at least 75°C.
   • Strip wire to 0.5" length, press the wire release mechanism, and insert the bare wire into the screw terminal opening as far as possible.
   • Release the wire release mechanism, making sure the wire remains under the clamp.
   • Do not reuse wire formed into a "J" loop or wrapped around screw threads — the terminal is designed for straight wire insertion only.
5. Route wires to the HRV/ERV/Make-Up Air Damper.

Supply Fan Installation

1. Plug the power cord into the Smart Plug receptacle.
2. Download the Broan-NuTone Overture App for step-by-step setup instructions to connect your Smart Plug (scan the QR code on the printed instructions to go to the App Store).

Note: When power is applied, the Smart Plug may require approximately 30 seconds to boot up and be ready to function.

Wiring Diagrams

Low Voltage Option — Make-Up Air Damper wired through a 24V transformer: Black/Line, White/Common, Green/Ground.

Corded Option — Make-Up Air Damper with 24V transformer and corded power connection: same color code (Black/Line, White/Common, Green/Ground).

For HRV/ERV systems, wiring differs slightly between AI Series and Non-AI Series units — refer to the terminal labels NO, C, NC, I, OC, OL, Y, R, G, B on the unit and match to the diagram in the full PDF or the Overture App.
